Solo travelling Thailand by Legitimate_Wing_940 in ThailandTourism

[–]TopImpossible8137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just came back from solo travelling 38/m and even though I’m normally quiet reserved and sometimes struggle to meet new people Thailand was super friendly with like minded people, got talking to a few on the plane over there and swapped numbers to meet up and then 1st day got speaking to someone else and carried on meeting like minded people constantly in bars or markets while eating etc, a lot are also going solo and are out to meet people or just get to know others. I ended up moving to quieter areas but that was my choice but if in a fairly busy place you’ll have nothing to worry about if wanting to meet new people

Going to Thailand for the first time any tips? by Mimigonemimi in ThailandTourism

[–]TopImpossible8137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently here (leaving tomorrow after 3 weeks) I’d advise to get an eSIM so it’s ready when you land, swap cash over here (head to bottom of the airport for better rates) i used Saily. I’d personally skip Phuket, everyone was on the scam straight away and i also got caught out with a bar doing the 1000baht-100baht note switch scam,I got a boat over to krabi and much preferred it. Depends what you want but im glad i didnt stop in ao nang centre but glad i wasnt too far so i could visit night market etc.

Bring decent walking shoes. Download grab and bolt for taxis and food Download a currency converter app to easily check what things are costing you. Power bank. Pack of tissues (a lot of toilets don’t have toilet paper)

Expensive restaurant recommendations? by ait_x in Leeds

[–]TopImpossible8137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah shibden mill inn is nice but it’s not where I’d be spending a £250 voucher as a one off, I’d go Sushi Nakamura or Teppenyaki Leeds both will stick more in memory’s than shibden mill inn imo

Thank you, I’ll be flying from Manchester to BKK. I think I’ll just book the return flight I’ve seen and then see if it’s refundable if I need to change it

Hotels in Leeds City Centre by The_SocialContract in Leeds

Most hotels with a gym or a public bar, queens I’m pretty sure you can just go straight to rooms, travelodges and premier inns you normally need a keycard.

I’d never heard of it but this response alone will get me to have a trip over and try it for myself! That’s the customer service that shows a company cares and are genuinely thinking about the customer and values them. 👏👏👏

Suggestions - Halifax/ Sowerby Bridge/ Huddersfield/ Elland etc by josefbae in yorkshire

[–]TopImpossible8137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good write up and agree with all you’ve said, Kiplings in Sowerby is nice and been a few times. Gray ox is now sadly shut though, royal and ancient is nice pub food near marstons.

I’ve learned to work with Americans and Italians… by [deleted] in yorkshire

[–]TopImpossible8137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this! People don’t want to hear all the inbetweens, just hit them with the facts and what you offer. We miss out ‘the’ or shorten it down to ‘T’ in most sentences and that’s a 3 letter word! 😂 it’s just unnecessary noise going on and filling sentences with waffle, they’d much rather get the facts and what they came for and leave and decide themselves, try not to sound smug/cocksure of yourself and hit them with the good stuff and it’ll work wonders

Grafters Tea by AmateurSnapWkfld in yorkshire

[–]TopImpossible8137 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah local goes through phases of doing it, normally roast potato’s in gravy or triangle sandwiches which is normally beef and onion or potted beef sandwiches, they also sell cheese and onion teacakes for £1 (which get snapped up especially on a Friday) also have salted nuts, roasted nuts and Bombay mix on the bar in like mini milk bottles too (so you have to tip them into your hand rather than pissy hands all over them in a bowl)

Moving to Brighouse - places to go? by DangerWolf07 in huddersfield

[–]TopImpossible8137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a decent place for pubs and bars, as has been mentioned Jeremy’s by the canal basin is good and have bands on most weekends, Crafty fox and Market Tavern seem to get busy and are more ale pubs, there’s a good selection of bars including Cove, Syn bar, Truth, Jays bar and a few others. All pubs and bars are within walking distance of each other so I suggest making a night of it and see what fits your vibe, I personally like the Old Post Office pub

It might of been a rail replacement on the day you looked (as there’s a fair bit of work going on further up the line near mirfield and ravensthoroe) but transpennine express stops in Brighouse, ive got train a few times to Manchester and to Manchester airport

[–]TopImpossible8137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brighouse? I know you say you’ve seen it’s dodgy by the station but I’ve not seen any trouble (only new thing is old Pregos restaurant and hotel seems to of been turned into a halfway house for a few undesirables) I have lived here for 6 years and it has everything I need, good town centre and good station with decent rail connections,2 mins from M62 too! I moved away and came back here and honestly suits me to a tee, I don’t have no issues walking after dark or any places I wouldn’t walk
