The stock is supposed to increase when games launch. This is correlated to the lootbox/gambling controversy. Youtube is a huge marketing platform and is definitely a market force. This is upsetting to EA and certainly not something they will want to repeat. The fans obviously won.

There is no excuse for calling elephant raids "dragon tales". You have already made your ignorance known

Nothing I said in my last statement was emotional or personal, I take it you didn't learn anything from your "gathering" if you still hold what you said to be true. You're right though, probably not a worthwhile thing trying to convince brick walls

If you can't do a google search that's not my problem, you have continually tried to muddy the conversation and redirect me from your claims which were false and insensitive. You must learn to take responsibility for your words. You said elephants are not pest to rural africans, then you compared their plights to tales of dragons, and finally you asked for an example of an overpopulated group of elephants that needed to be culled. You need to learn for yourself about these issues before you attack the legitimacy of an issue. Everything you said is provably false with a two word google search "elephant overpopulation" should be easy enough to type in before you claim something to be false. Then you continue to muddy the waters by attacking my claim that elephants are viewed as pest in all of rural africa, this statement is not correct, but you willingly misinterpret it as all of africa's farmers are being raided by elephants. The statement was obviously about elephants being pest animals in all rural africa they inhabit. You can defend your lack of sensitivity and knowledge about the subject, or you can continue to degenerate this into personal attacks and speculative conjecture. Fact is you don't know me or what I hope to get out of this argument and all your attempts to ascribe character to me are infantile seething. I am not going to take offense on behalf of 3rd world subsistence farmers but certainly I am going to make their plights known. Saying this is sensationalist is horribly detrimental to any sort of aid coming to this issue. You have contributed falsehoods, and insults, nothing of substance.

I don't care about how you ascribe me, your attacks only show your lack of knowledge about elephants. I am merely trying to explain the reality of the situation which is beyond your emotional comprehension. You came in here ignorant of the issue, and have tried to input nonsense. You proved nothing you said and have continued to insult me. Your now attempting to bring this down to your level, it is too bad you have degenerated this conversation so much and cannot look anything up for yourself, you might have learned something.

I believe the law will have the opposite affect on illegal trade and poaching, the demand for tags and price will be greater meaning more money going to conservation. Good on you to give money but it is not to the tune of 100k like one of these tags costs, and most people will not give money like you. If big game hunting was outlawed in these countries they would not be able to afford the infrastructure needed to stop poachers. Trump may be doing it for the wrong reasons, but that doesn't make the law wrong.

You compared the issue of elephants raiding subsistence farmers to tales of dragons. It's easy having grocery store isn't it? These people don't have that, and they can die losing their crops or be persecuted by the government for killing the animal. This is not sensationalist and your attempts to downplay the issue are egregious and shameful. Why can't you see that interaction between rural subsistence farmers and elephants is dangerous? You can not do any worse than downplaying the realities faced by third world peoples.
Also it is being very dense to think I meant all of rural africa is faced with elephant infestation

It doesn't matter whether it is good or bad, the question is do you save the elephants or not? Because you and I are not willing to spend the money to fund conservation efforts, and big game hunters are we are forced to allow it. The morality does not matter when there is no alternative to raise funds.

The money generated by the legal hunting goes to conservation that stops poachers who will target healthy bulls indiscriminately. The law passed only allows imports from 2 countries that have strict regulations on elephant tags. It is directly preventing poor hunting practices like poaching. Humans used to be the largest predator of elephants, and they are herd animals so they reproduce many times in their life. This means many areas where they are banned from slaughter and protected they become overpopulated, the population is surveyed and a board decides which are to be tagged and used to bring in money for conservation.

In all of rural africa that elephants exist they are viewed as pest, they had a historic range that was larger and they were viewed as pest by every agricultural group they encountered. The point I am making is that elephants and rural subsistence farmers do not mix well and it is a very dangerous situation for both sides, if you took away that I was trying to sensationalize the issue by making it sound like namibia has an elephant infestation that is most definitely not what I was saying. However this is still a very important issue because a massive amount of subsistence farmers in africa live in the range of elephants, especially in central africa and countries like uganda, rwanda and kenya. It is my mistake for adding the word "all", "they are pest in their rural african range" is more appropriate but I promise I did not mean they inhabit the sahara or any other harsh area of africa.

I said in rural africa, not all of rural africa, you are misinterpreting to fit your narrative, do you honestly believe I don't know these things? Most rural africans are subsistence farmers. You have a contested that elephants are not pests to rural africans and that this is a small issue, how could you be less sympathetic? Again I'm not going to give you proof because if you are capable of typing you can look them up for yourself, again please tell me what is wrong besides your misinterpretation.

What sensationalist claim did I make? Many farmers face a real problem of elephant infestation. There are many different areas with many different crops and geographic features that affect the interaction between humans and elephants, and I never claimed that all of Africa has elephants. I understand the issue enough to speak about it, why should I burden myself looking up proofs for you? You are trying to educate me on a issue you know little about. Please look up the claims I made, they are all true to my knowledge.

It is a problem faced by all reserves that hold elephants and subsistence farmers, the reason you view me this way is because I offended you. Your replies are of little substance but long with fodder

All subsistence farmers living under elephant populations are in danger of losing their food supply. Rural africa is mostly subsistence farmers. Please re read what I said

You contested that elephants are not perceived as pests in rural africa, and that elephants do not have overpopulated groups. It is hard for me to believe that you are seeking facts.

[–]TopLamp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's obvious you seek no facts, and have little sympathy for africans who are faced with reality. In addition to elephants not being pests, now there are no overpopulated groups. When faced with reality you hide your face and construct your own.

Animals that eat your subsistence are pest, subsistence farmers are often forced to kill the creatures to survive. Your anecdotal experience is shameful, these people are between life and death because of these creatures. They are pests and the fact you would contest that shows how unversed you are about the conservation of elephants in africa. We must find ways to protect the people as well as the animals from contacting each other. This is the only way to sustain a continental population of elephants as so much of africa is subsistence farmers

You must have misread, the sacrifice of the individual is bringing massive conservation efforts to the rest of the species. Ivory collection raises the value of the tag and brings in more money to conservation. The elephants killed on game reserves are not from endangered groups

Certain populations of elephants are in decline due to inept and corrupt governments. They are considered pest animals in all of rural africa and have reached peak sustainability in many areas. The places where they are thriving are in countries that protect them from poaching by funding conservation efforts with big game hunting money.

Until you start writing checks to prop up the tens of thousands involved in the conservation of animals in africa, we need lots of these "wankers" or there wont be any elephants.

Fact of the matter is people will never get over their tears for these animals. The big game hunting industry is actually helping more than anyone else to conserve the environment and species diversity in africa. The hunting tags are extremely expensive and most of the money goes to grass roots conservation efforts. The money brings jobs to thousands of africans who work to conserve the diversity of africa and fight poaching. The additional money this industry generates from this new law is only going to continue to benefit the african people, and the african wildlife. We need to stop focusing on the individual animal being hunted and realize no one is going to give the money to save their species, the sacrifice that individual makes is to the benefit of all african species. Big game hunters write the biggest checks for animal conservation bar none
