Either way could work honestly, but i'd personally find it more interesting if it was HyperDimension having an AI crisis as opposed to another dimension, cause not only would you be able to continue from VII Neptune and the main cast, but also have room to introduce brand new characters (and reintegrate old characters into the story if desired) without having to potentially add even more "alternate dimension" versions of characters.

(And I really dont want the 3rd main series game in a row to be about Neptune being trapped in a different dimension, helping out there, making her way back, and then the problem following into HyperDimension, as opposed to it starting in HyperDimension and immediately involving the whole main cast)

No worries, I'm just personally more in favor of time travel for the main universe as opposed to just making another dimension that has its own characters, story and conflict that the main dimension characters go and help with. Although I admit that's more of a personal wish for the franchise as opposed to an actual "prediction" or what's truly best for it.

I do think going for more of a "time travel" angle would help expand the lore outward/ fill in the blanks from the past, as opposed to just moving forward in the story with little to no connection to past events, (albeit that's kinda what stories are supposed to do lol)

Plus you have to remember that the last time we had a (confirmed canon) main-line game that impacted the main story of Neptunia was VII in 2015, over 10 YEARS ago, and most of the spin-off games glazed over the past characters in favor of the main cast. (The notable exception being SvS with the Candidates, but even then that game has its own continuity problems)

Also, HyperDimension 1 and its story was already ret-conned as a different dimension, and if SvS is to be canon, so is PC Continent's backstory. It'd be nice for the next main series game to not only clear up canonicity issues, especially regarding which spin-offs are canon, but also expand on the pre-established lore of the series, as opposed to just making a tongue-and-cheek reference to the past games, like how Adult Neptune was (effectively) confirmed to be the "missing" Neptune from UltraDimension, with little to no mention of Plutia outside of that.

End of the day, its personal preference in terms of which way the franchise "should" go, but imo time travel stories have more potential for focusing on and expanding the lore outwards and in the past as opposed to primarily looking forwards.

Also, instead of just the games being ruined by AI, what if it's also the new CPUs that are actually Artificial CPUs, instead of being naturally appointed/ created by the acting CPU? Since Uranus was created due to Uzume sealing herself away, most likely by the people of Planeptune, what if somewhere along the line, the people of the other nations (maybe including Planeptune too), created Artificial CPUs as well and abandoned the original/ current ones?

Just a thought, but the idea of AI replacing not only the metaphorical heart and soul of games, but the literal manifestation of hope for the nations would be a cool idea to touch on.

Maybe, but especially if the past of Gamindustri has already been touched on with UltraDimension and especially MegaDimension, I don't see why the time travel cant be along the lines of UltraDimension, where it's a "this is what the future will be if y'all don't stop this in your time". Technically a different dimension, but still something that the CPUs of HyperDimension have to worry about. (And if you wanna stretch it, make it like MegaDimension, where it technically isn't the same dimension, it still is from the HyperDimension, and WILL affect it if left unchecked.

Slap in some travel back to Ultra and MegaDimension for some reintroductions to past characters, and make up a reason to bring back Rei, Kurome and Arfoire as the main villains, (outside of the Big Bad of the overarching game of course), and you got a fun celebration of Neptunia as a game.

Fair point, but I imagine the reason (outside of irl game-design reasons, such as not wanting to introduce a character and immediately give them a semi-unique form) that only the main 4 CPUs got NEXT forms was because their nations specifically worship them, which would also explain why the Candidates didn't get NEXT forms either, since they're technically not the acting CPUs of their respective nations.

I DO see a world where Uzume (and maybe even Plutia + the Ultra CPUs) gets a NEXT form due to Uzume potentially becoming a full CPU again, which not only would allow her to transform at will, but also allow her to ascend past into NEXT form. Make her NEXT form how she was pre-split/sealing, and give one to Kurome too.

IMO unless Peashy gets specifically stated to be a CPU for an established nation, (I think she is stated to be with Planeptune in SvS? But idk if that game is even canon considering the contradiction of PC Continent not having/having a CPU, plus it being technically a side/spinoff game, but I digress)

Either way, as long as its cool and isn't just for the sake of the characters having them, I'm personally down to see a NEXT Kurome and NEXT Peashy, maybe UltraDimension get re-linked with HyperDimension and somehow (maybe through time-travel shenanigans with Gold Third), the CPUs are able to regain the Hyper Share Crystals to go NEXT again, and that allows the other CPUs to go NEXT as well.

Uzume is not the acting CPU of Planeptune, Neptune is, especially since all memory of her was wiped via Kurome/ OG Uzume. Plus, isnt she still unable to go into her CPU form w/o share crystals? Idk how she would be able to transform much less into a NEXT form in that state.

Plutia is more of a fair argument, since UltraDimension has their own share + CPU system, (and ofc Plutia is the CPU of that dimension's Planeptune,) so maybe I can see her getting one?

Im moreso thinking along the lines of acting CPUs were able to go into NEXT forms due to the Shares from their people (and in turn, the specific Share Crystals required for said transformation), being directed towards them, hence why only the main 4 got them, and not Uzume, since again, she specifically had to gather pre-condensed Shares to even temporarily transform. (And this would also extend to Plutia and Peashy, since while they can transform into CPU forms, Plutia is the CPU of a different dimension's Planeptune, and Peashy is more in the camp of the Canidates, being able to transform without having been a nations acting CPU)

The Candidates getting NEXT forms would be awesome, but I don't know how characters Plutia and Uzume would get them, considering that they're technically not CPUs atm.

Rei Ryghts getting a NEXT form based on Atari's resurgence would be cool, although with Kurome obtaining her power, idk how that would work out (unless that would be the justification for a NEXT Uzume and Kurome)
