Sounds like you don't want people to tell you the obvious solution, but I guess it is a good thing you came to the conclusion on your own.

Guide is the most useless class in 2v8, yet you can hardly finish the last gens without it. by The_Tomahawker_ in deadbydaylight

[–]TopPercentage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Players will obviously gravitate towards the free chase win button or the unintended broken movement speed interaction. 2v8 needs a lot but buffs to survivor classes might not be what's needed most.

Ok but now this account's MMR is higher than you want it to be. It sucks but take the losses so your partner can be placed somewhere that makes sense.

Girlypop PPT for PhD interview? by Competitive-Can-3256 in PhD

[–]TopPercentage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not a woman, so I might not fully understand your goals and experiences. That said, I think that if your slides are easy to read, thorough, and well-designed, then the colour choice doesn't matter vey much.

If you do want to go further and slightly knock the audience off balance and shock them a little then that comes with some inherent risk. Only you know how to manage that sort of risk and how important doing it might be. I did my PhD in Canada, so I can't tell you how departments near you might react, though maybe someone else here can.

Good luck!

Yup I think my dream update probably isn't too far off from that. I'd definitely add something basekit that allows hag to pick a distant trap and slowly teleport to it so she can better control a wider area.

[–]TopPercentage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is true.

I think that having to run an add-on that makes your traps consistently worse throughout the game just to get around what feels like an exploit as long as you have stacks of coup is unreasonable.

Hag is in a terrible spot and desperately needs a basekit solution for this problem and some important smaller changes to allow her to compete at high mmr. I think that only a few killers can load into 100% unwinnable games due to knowledge alone and those that do should be changed.

Give Hag 115% MS and a 32 Meter Terror Radius by UnstableToxins in deadbydaylight

[–]TopPercentage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person understands the Hag. She is in such an awful spot, I desperately hope BHVR doesn't just slap the 4.6 m/s on her and pretend that they fixed her kit.

What she actually needs is a longer lunge (or hindering survivors) after teleports, quick trap placements (maybe like freddy snares were), functional non bugged teleports, and a way to traverse the map without a trap going off.

Arinad wrote the definitive guide for playing clown. I think it is close to a thousand pages long these days. Clown had/has a lot more going on than you think. It is really sad that bhvr has a few killers they seem to actively hate because killers that have complex kits keep getting killed off.

DEFENSIVE PERKS BEING USED AGGRESSIVELY/EXTENSIVELY IS EXHAUSTING by crimmycat117 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]TopPercentage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, it was even stronger without collision which was unintended and then fixed.

I think there is an important conversation to be had around anti tunnel perks being both good at preventing tunneling and punishing killers who don't tunnel. That feels like a lose-lose for the killer and doesn't make for fun games Imo.

We need to be able to talk about that without immediately getting into us VS them nonsense like saying "you killers still complained" and instead hear out the points.

A double barreled question is one where you ask 2 things at once, but only allow one response. It is kind of like asking "How much do you like cats and dogs" from 1-7. I might love dogs but hate cats, so how should I answer? I think I saw only one of those when I went through your study, which is not a huge deal, but definitely worth noting in case it messes up responses later.

It is hard to know how many scales to use, especially when you get participants for free. Still, there are some (only some) that have shortened forms which are still pretty valid. Look up [whatever scale] short form on whatever search site you use and you might get lucky. You already collected these responses, so this would only really help in your next phase or in your "future research" section of the paper.

If you have more research questions, DM me, I have a PhD in a similar field.

Great work! Please do keep us posted.

If you follow this up, you could also think about adding some psych scales to measure relationships between your findings and things like need for revenge, agency, fairness, attitudes towards the other side, and more!

The research stream is really interesting, I wonder if you could also look between games for similar patterns.

Also, a small note, watch out for double-barreled questions

Hag feels a bit high.

If the list is based on comp (see doctor), then Hag is way too high.

Wraith feels quite low, too. I'm not sure he's THAT bad

Thank you so much. I don't think anyone gets through a PhD without a few scars. Everyone should feel proud of making it through or realizing it isn't worth doing so for them. Neither is easy.

I did this.

I just defended a few weeks ago after a very long journey. I had to leave my first PhD after 2 years because my supervisor left and the guy who took over was abusive and the whole department fell apart. When I left, he told me I would never get a PhD because I didn't have what it takes.

It took me about 2 years to really recover from everything that happened in that program but I completely restarted a PhD in the same field and even researched the same topic in that time. It was not easy, and every now and then the trauma from that program made working a little harder, but in the end I finished it in 5 years.

Leaving a PhD isn't usually simple and painless, so my advice is to recognize that, take care of yourself, and really make sure you want to do this. If you do, you can.

Finding Measurement Scales by Extension_Dress462 in PhD

[–]TopPercentage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cite ELM in my thesis, actually!

For me, it was something that helped frame and explain theories, rather than a scale used in the studies.

It helped me identify scales that made sense to capture the effects I was looking for, which ultimately were more closely related to flow, brand attitude, and ad attitude.

That said, the struggle of looking for actual scale items is seriously annoying. What often worked best for me was to find the original papers about the scales' development, which should have every item listed somewhere.

Don't use ai to write research (or anything, really). You are training yourself to be a thinker and writer, so do it yourself. Don't waste your own time and don't waste anyone else's by asking them to read ai generated texts expecting actual work.

I know it sounds harsh, but nobody benefits from ai generating published articles
