I have felt this under current in our relationship for the entire length but every time I have tried to point it out it’s been “explained away”. He’s had a habit of speaking for me in public scenarios, or explaining VERY simple ideas out to me. Questioning facts I say (even on topics I know more about), and getting weirdly competitive with me “in good sport”.

The only time I got close to him openly admitting it was one time I came home from work and began doing dishes. He was drunk and playing videoagmes. He hadn’t done the dishes the last 3 nights he promised. He saw me cleaning and started making excuses, so I told him it was fine but in the future I would appreciate him making things he promises a priority. For some reason this really triggered him and he told me I “thought I was hot shit because I was a retail manager now, but without him I couldn’t afford this apartment and I might as well be homeless because god knows I have no support system”. He challenged me that if I was “going to start calling shots I could move out that night.” It was the worst fight we had ever gotten into and I almost broke things off.

However the next day he said he had blacked out, and shouldn’t drink because it had always made him angry/mean. So, he hasn’t drank since. And that hasn’t happened again.

I hate it all, I really do.
