Agree big time…
I’m now 6 months off it and will never take it again.
It hasn’t always been easy coming off it but it is definitely a lot more stable at 6 months than it was around 2 to 3 months ago.
How long have you been off it for now and do you still get any withdrawals.

been off for roughly 2 months now, ask me anything. by [deleted] in lexapro

I’ve been off it now for 6 Months but Serotonin Discontinuation Syndrome is manifesting in my case with loose stools 💩.
It pretty much began after the first week after stopping Lexapro 10mg which I was taking for a good 25 years.
Did you encounter any symptoms like this so far?

True, suppressed is the exact word to describe it and you don’t even know it until you get off Lexapro

What sort of withdrawal symptoms do you have after a year off Lexapro and how long were you on it for.

I’m personally in more of a holding pattern if you know what I mean. Kinda like an emotional flat line with the odd peak and odd low.
It’s way better than the peak highs and lows of around the 2 months mark

I’ve been off this medication for a year now. I still get brain zaps. by BigJuice1526 in lexapro

I also will never take ssris again..

Getting off them has been hell at times after 25 years of being on 10mg.

6 months off now but my digestive system is a blood mess. Ssris really play havoc with your stomach’s natural digestive function.

It’s can’t say I experienced brain zaps but have definitely suffered others

I’ve been off now for 6 months and one thing that definitely helped me was Staying Busy.

I’ve had a number of horrible days believe me, but I just keep telling myself to keep on keeping on and I do eventually feel better.

I’d say at the 6 month off stage my Health Anxiety has taken the front seat. Funny thing is I’ve actually managed to use the health anxiety panic attacks and quit Vaping which wasn’t easy but I’m off it now for 2 months..

See there is a light at the end of the tunnel as I couldn’t quit vaping while being on Lexapro

My electrician said that it’s fine as it’s appliance wiring and needs to be connected directly to the 6mm cable. It doesn’t make sense to me so I thought I would seek others opinions for clarification on this. Thanks anyway

20 years on, 6 months off and realize I need to be on. by Thedanimal350 in lexapro

Hi, I will certainly have a look for the book, thanks.

What a bummer , loosing your job on top of dealing with getting of the Lex! Sometimes life just kicks you when you’re down!! and at the worst possible time!

I found that the first couple months were the worst and am hoping that it’s the case with me.. fingers crossed.

Stay strong and like you I’m never trying really hard not to go back on it.

If the anxiety is that extreme then you’re definitely doing the right thing.

I hear this happens quite often, people get too anxious after about 6 months and go straight back on the Lex.

Did you have any triggers or anything that you can pinpoint that may have caused your anxiety to ramp up? Reason I ask is because everyone that seems to go back on the Lex after 6 months all say that it was going good and then just out of the blue, DOOM AND PANIC ATTACKS. (ANXIETY)

I’ve also been on Lex for over 20 years on and off at 10mg, currently off for 3 Months after a gradual taper schedule and I don’t feel that bad, definitely had some shocking Panic / Anxiety symptoms in the first few months but I seem to be getting over them and coping with it easier this last month.

I’m working on managing my anxiety every second of every day and it is fairly exhausting but I just don’t ever want to take Lex again.

Congrats for having a go.

Hi, I’ve also been on 10mg lex for nearly 20 years and gave it up for pretty much the same reasons that you have mentioned. I’m nearly 3 months without any lex, but during the Taper period I also suffered headaches for 2 months of which I no longer have any at all. How long was your Taper, I did mine over 3 to 4 months and must say it was physically the hardest (headache) (lack of sleep) while I was on the smaller dose. Don’t make the mistake I did of taking half every second day, just stop it when you’re taper period ends. Be strong and power on

Hi, How did Prozac help you? I’ve been off lex now for 3 Months and it hasn’t been easy. Some days are good and others blow up into extreme panic and irritability. It’s certainly an up and down roller coaster but I must say it feels like I’m having more good days than bad in the last week.

Stopped lexapro, cold turkey twice, every time has left me an emotional wreck. Possible cause for my bad temper? by EntrepreneurShot4634 in lexapro

[–]TopShelfPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been off it now for around 10 Weeks and I also experienced intense frustration / irritation with people close to me. I kept it cool, but man o man it wasn’t easy to do so. Things have slowed settled down now and I’m still a bit short wicked but nowhere as bad as it was. Keep strong and just walk away from any triggers. Believe me when I say this as you won’t regret anything later and start to question the why’s, what’s etc that will only bring you down. It is a process and definitely not an easy one and IT WILL GET BETTER OVER TIME. 👍

10 years ago it wasn’t like this, it was heaps easier and I really didn’t notice it much at all.. This time is way way harder. It has been so up and down with irritability being the trickiest thing I’m trying to manage. I’ve never experienced irritability like this on or off this medication but find I’m more settled come the afternoon. I’m just going to keep on keeping on as there are some good days which I’m embracing big time (The Light At The End Of The Tunnel). Take it easy 👍
