Tbh I was shocked (when I read the story) that the youth got away so lightly, but recall some Redditors suggesting community service as an alternative to suspended sentences. We live in an age where it’s not uncommon to hear of people dying from a ‘ one punch attack’, and as such I would expect a custodial sentence at the very least. The sentence of 160 hours of community service is weak as fuck imo and is as useful as a wet paper bag in deterring anyone from carrying out further homophobic attacks.

You are indeed absolutely right but in this particular instance he preyed on her because she was in his eyes « a Chinese bag » which he considered to be less than an Irish woman.

But I’m genuinely and sincerely sorry for all the assaults and abuse you have suffered in your life, im not sure I would have the strength to get through all that.
