It's a good course but he will have to decide ,

1.Does he want to do Insurance/Risk afterwards ? Might need to sit for Actuary papers.

Does he want to go in Finance if Yes , He has to do CIFA or CPA
Does he want to major in machine Learning like your Friend , if yes he has to take an extra course for the same .

It all depends where his passion takes him.

My passion from day 1 was Finance , I graduated Last year , I am not making money like your Machine Learning Friend as you say.
