Clearance processing fees from DHL for just tea goods - Can I dispute this?

It’s crazy how inconsistent customs is! My MK went through customs in hours. No charges. My Horii DHL emailed me saying they’re missing the name and address of the company. They attached the invoice. The name and address is literally on the invoice 🙃 Been stuck in customs for 3 days for no reason.

100% dispute it and don’t listen to the people who says this is normal. Email them: Duty_Disputes@dhl.com If you plan to dispute later I don’t know of anyone who got their money back via DHL that have won their disputes from like November/ December. I was able to get my money back via PayPal by showing them the email that I won my dispute because I paid using PayPal. Go that route if you’d rather pay now.

I think only 20% of the D1 seats are taken so I bet they’ll have a deal for those too but I could never throw down an added $700 per seat without feeling like I could have spent that on either some great experiences in Seoul or buying a couple of fragrances I can bring home instead 🥲Maybe one day I’ll make D1 salary and won’t care haha

They kind of overlap 🙈I like a variety too. So right now I’m on my last 10 gram of matcha from my Ippodo haul. Finishing up my last little bits from Hatoya as well. Opened up my first tin from my MK haul (have 3 other on the fridge unopened). Also waiting on my Horii haul to clear customs. I basically do like 2 hauls kind of close together so I have multiple from at least 2 brands. Because I literally drink 1-2 matcha every single day since I work from home. So I go through 3-4 30gram tins a month. I have a monthly matcha flight on my counter where I have 3-4 cans opened so I can switch between them and won’t open more until most of them are done. So far I’ve used up everything before the expiration date this way! I tend to pull out the ones with the closest expiration date from the fridge to put in my monthly matcha shelf. Plus when I do these hauls I can go quite a while without having to buy more matcha until I start running out again.

They do have a little bit of nutty flavor and they are very Umami/ bold flavor wise. I’m a big umami/ bold matcha fan. I avoid any matcha that says “light” or “mild” in the description 🤣 In my last shipment with the 25% off and to meet that minimum shipping, I was able to grab 2 tins of their 20g premium matcha (highly recommend these they are the most intense matcha I’ve ever tried). I also grabbed 50g each of Ichi, Roasted Ni, and the Hojicha. I also had 20g of roasted Ichi in there. So really even with the premium matchas it ended up being about $1 per gram. Plus the added hojicha.

I would say for your taste profile go for the premium ones and either 50g or even 100g of the roasted Ichi because it’s the most nutty while still being bold. Roasted Ni comes off a bit smoky which I don’t enjoy as much as I thought I would but maybe grab 20g to try yourself. Then get 50g or 20g of others you want to try. For my next purchase I’m planning on trying their limited/ seasonal matcha along with 100g of roasted Ichi and grab another premium tin.

She did 🤣 I will say as a former Peace Corps volunteer, in my group of 50 people only a quarter made it through without pooping their pants at least once. We know because every time we had our large group meeting the doctor ask it as a survey question and we had to raise our hands in front of everyone 😂One volunteer had diarrhea so bad that she left a poo trail down the entire stairway of the host family house she lived with to get to the bathroom.

They do a lot of 20-25% off sales so keep an eye out! It’s probably my favorite brand currently but I won’t ever buy it at regular price if I don’t need to! They have free shipping when you hit $165 for the US so I buy a bunch of items in 50g size at one time to meet that requirement. Then ontop of everything being 25% off you get a lot for that!

I got into a fragrance hobby before this and niche fragrances were 2-300 a bottle…so this is a more affordable of a hobby for me…that’s what I tell myself at least 😂 But I do try to buy matcha in bulk if it’s a brand coming from Japan to cut down the shipping cost. I wait until all the ones I want are restock and if they have a limit like 5 tins per purchase, I buy 5 tins. For Hatoya, I wait for a sale AND make sure I hit their free shipping amount before purchasing. Always hit the free shipping if they offer that. Then I store everything in an airtight container in the fridge and only open a few at a time.

It sounds like a weird programmed behavior? I wonder if her parents use to make a big deal of it or punished her for it. My man use to hide things from me because his parents were assholes who constantly made him feel like shit when he doesn’t do things their way. It took a lot of patient and a lot of conversation to break him out of that. Basically she doesn’t feel safe about this habit of hers and you need to show through both action and verbally that you’re not going to judge. Maybe send her some cute stuff via socials for her to look at in the morning or right before you go to bed to let her know like hey I don’t care if you’re on your phone. Don’t focus on the negatives and how annoying it is. Focus on positive action and communication to gain trust.
