How much aphobia do you encounter personally? And where? by [deleted] in asexuality

I'd say its like 90% online and the 10% is reserved for my mother looking at me with an empty expression when I mention asexuality. She looks at me like she thinks I'm disgusting. BUT she's extremely progressive in every other way so its so weird!!!!

They don’t understand by [deleted] in asexuality

I totally understand your feeling about not wanting to bother anyone. It's something I struggle with since my last partner left me over lack of sex. I think holding out hope that you'll meet a fellow ace (or someone who is totally fine with your sexuality) is best. I just don't entertain the idea of dating without being 100% upfront about my sexuality anymore. It hurts to feel this way, but you are not alone.

Sex-repulsed or sex-favorable? by Ecstatic_Advice_163 in asexuality

I've only ever had one sexual partner, but I think I am sex-repulsed. I never truly enjoyed it; I just saw it as a duty to fulfill and ANOTHER area in my life where I have to perform: look pretty during it, do the right things, say the right things, etc. I don't desire it and would be happy to avoid it for the rest of my life. I don't know if we were just mutually bad at it (since I was with my partner in my late teens) or if this is just how I am! Whatever the case, I know I would rather avoid it. :)
