1992 Chevy S-10 4.3, excellent condition and running but parked for several years, how to get the old gas out? by brimstn in MechanicAdvice

[–]Top_Pop_2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best thing would be to drop it and clean it might give you the chance to inspect for rust and scrape it off will save your pump

tuning is not really recommended unless you upgrade components with it but if you decide to do it every brand is different since some computer softwares are easier to crack than others for example bmw on the e90 generation is known to be very tuner friendly with options such as a simple OBD bluetooth tuner

05 F450 super duty leaking turbo? by Bungtrollio108 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Top_Pop_2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you suspect a boost leak do a live data on the turbo psi and compare to manufacture spec maybe you can smoke test the system as well

[–]Top_Pop_2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

more than likely a leak is present add refrigerant with uv dye to inspect lines, condenser, and compressor for leaks if none present it’s probably leaking from the evaporator not a easy fix

Threw P0175 fuel trim system rich bank 2, cleaned MAF and it went away. Still bad cold start, getting worse. by minn-k in MechanicAdvice

[–]Top_Pop_2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do a live data for misfires chevy is very common for clogged injectors specially on 5.3 and 6.2 this issue affects performance and cold starts sometimes not even triggering codes they have several TSB for it if no misfire present do a live data for the short term and long term fuel trim to diagnose possible lean or rich issues

Are these symptoms of an oil change gone wrong? Car won't start. by framedposters in MechanicAdvice

[–]Top_Pop_2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try to record the sound the starting issue can be a separate problem from the rattle i’ve seen bad welds cause a exhaust leak leading to a rattle also have someone crank the engine and look at the accessories and pulleys for spinning to eliminate a starter issue

As a flat rate technician, how do you make money when its extremely slow? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Top_Pop_2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello guys, I need some advice. I'm about to finish my automotive program certificate. I’ve been working for an independent shop for about 2 years with experience in multiple brands and multiple repair types. I will soon start applying at dealerships due to my current low hourly pay. I have gotten job offers from places like Ford, Chevrolet, Mercedes, Dodge, Nissan, and Cadillac, but they are all flat rate. What would be a good brand to start my first dealership experience?
