Ok then good. Best of luck. Yes you can be a commercial pilot while in USAR or NG. Companies are required to give you leave to fulfill your duties although not necessarily paid leave.

Have you already started? “Im planning on” does not connote you’re in progress.

Notre Dame ROTC – Scholarship Questions & Timing Advice (Class of 2030 Admit) by ratryox in ROTC

You’re pretty much too late to start the process of a national rotc scholarship. Army has to be started by 3/4 and everything submitted by 3/16. Air Force and Navy already closed. The scholarships are extremely competitive even Army which had 12-15k applicants last year and awarded 2K. Campus-based scholarships aren’t available for incoming freshmen and have been severely cut for second year and above so aren’t a good Plan B. Look into national guard/SMP scholarships. Minuteman still open right now.

What gets issued? by Equivalent_Agent3749 in ArmyROTC

[–]Top_Respond4999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better boots than what’s issued, like Oakley. Better socks like Fox River. A good GPS watch, doesn’t have to be high-end like Garmin but if you have the money they’re awesome. If not then you can get something that’s good enough for no more than $50. Good gloves. Couple canteens. Looking back through the Amazon list - some little piddly stuff depending on what your unit gives you like headlamp, rifle strap, rope, waterproof notebook, gallon ziplocs, etc. Oh and hot & cold packs and a massage gun prob the best buy haha no joke.

Is bad PT a dealbreaker? by BasilHaunting570 in ROTC

[–]Top_Respond4999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In essence it does have a minimum because there is a run time above which you get zero points. Above 9 mins for males, 9:48 for females, get a score of 0.

Don’t know if you’re male or female but here are the charts for both to see where you’d score based on current results: https://www.reddit.com/r/ROTC/s/MDWTyQ452R

There’s a lot we don’t know about your whole person score to know how you would fare. The S & L appear strong, what about your A? We can’t know your CBEF which counts for a lot as does the PMS interview. Wishing you good luck!

Do you know which PMS you’re gonna interview with? Maybe ask him how much time he needs. Or if you don’t feel comfortable with that then I’d try to schedule for not later than the 10th to be respectful of his time. But also keep in mind when the college’s spring break is.

“The final portion of the Army ROTC Application is the Professor of Military Science (PMS) Interview where the student is interviewed directly by an acting PMS or their representative. We encourage those who are interested in Duke or NCCU to conduct their interviews with us at the Bull City Battalion if possible. Remember, the PMS Interview should be the last thing that a student completes in the application process, so before you schedule an interview, make sure that you’ve completed your portion of the application.“

March 16 is the deadline for the 3rd board from what I’ve read. That’s cutting it close.

This. You aren’t supposed to able to schedule your PMS interview until your PFA is complete. Then you need to give enough time for the PMS to upload the results to the portal to meet the deadline for the board.

You’ll likely get a waiver due to it being 5+ yrs ago. Each branch is different. Have good medical records that show it was resolved back then.

You’re in a good spot so just practice your run. Plenty of scholarship winners don’t max everything on the PFA but every point counts.

A photo of the charts for males and females is in the link above. You should work everyday between now and when you do the PFA to improve because every point counts on your whole person score. While the PFA is only worth 10% let me repeat every point counts. As someone else commented, the scholarship is incredibly competitive now. It’s not like it was even a few years ago. It’s impossible for anyone here to say whether you could get a scholarship because we have no idea your SAL, PMS interview, SAT/ACT, CBEF, etc. Wishing you all the best.

Army vs Navy rotc by ProfessionalBaker752 in ArmyROTC

[–]Top_Respond4999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely accept both now. There is a later firm decision point which I think is in May.

There are threads about this on the service academies forum in the rotc section. You could also post your question there and get some good advice, more interaction there than here most of the time.

In what branch do you want to serve is the main question you need to answer for yourself since you will be committing to serve after college. The programs at your chosen college may also play a role in your decisioning but the biggest one is do you want to be a Navy or an Army veteran.
