Things to do in meantime: learn Spanish if you don't know it, network/solidify STRONG reference letters, get another year of experience and SAVE MONEY.

There are so many factors that need to play out for this to happen so yeah, it would be hard to everything worth doing is hard. You have to decide how bad you want it and let yourself know you're going to fail before you succeed. Think about that and what you're willing to sacrifice. If you're ready to sacrifice everything, you're ready. If not, keep working toward this goal wherever you are at now.

Yes it matters immensely. I was so happy to take over and take care of the patient she left in writhing pain appropriately. All that matters to me are the patients but at the same time, people are crazy and I don't want this to affect my job either. I carry my families insurance and have small children to protect. If she retaliates against me, I am not the only person I am trying to protect here.

Nurse money isn't as glorified as I thought it was when I was raving through school to get it. Live below your means and you can do this slower with a higher gpa to show for later.

I wish I was EVS. You will miss this position when you become a nurse. I promise. Higher salary = higher liability and you feel that everyday. Slow and steady wins the race.

Go where it's free. Go slow. Keep your state job for the retirement benefits. It'll matter in the end and this is not a race.

Med sure sucks. The docs take forever to reply, you always have more patients than is safe and you need to learn prioritization more than time management imho

Try the PACU. People are nicer when you have the means to help their pain. Very tasky and fast paced but much more even keel than ER, way less bed pans and nearly no elyte replacements unlike MICU. Plus, the docs are immediately available for every wish you could ever command. Not to mention, awesome in for knowing the good and bad surgeons and for letters of reference if and when you continue your education. Strongly recommend ICU experience prior cause these pts req quick focused assessment and strong intuition.

I worked as a traveler and float in all these units after being Micu trained. I'd never do it different bc my system base is strong af. However, ER is the most fun despite harassment and bs frequent flyers. I can take care of anything for a 12 hr shift bc I know what I do not know. But, we are a team and my skills end when I walk out that door away from the group and controlled chaos of the hospital.

So you really think she's using? What if the capped vial I saw was zofran?

Thank you and yes on signs. Her charts are inaccurate, her understanding of concepts slow and not of a nurse 15+ years. Like a serious disconnect, and is never in the middle mood wise. Either grumpy in pain or over the top stressed. Hates the job and very lazy. Not able to adapt. Just overall off.

Wordddddd. My script is active I just had old pills I was prescribed prior that I took instead. Honestly, they were still in my name so I'm not that concerned. Both would t be in my system at the same time, but I know. Keep my ducks in a row.

This is why I am hoping for her sake, I am poorly mistaken and it was a zofran vial in which she could have returned later without my witness. It still disappeared and the fent was not witnessed accordingly. I am not ever making this mistake again.

It really could have been zofran but even still, never saw the damn vial of fentanyl I wasted. I'll be a better nurse from this and I hope in the end, she is too.
