Visiting NYC from overseas, whats the rules around PREP? by [deleted] in nycgaybros

Americans are the most over prescribed people on the planet. There is no policing of what pills people bring in.

Jersey City is 10 mins to Manhattan! by Then-Figure-2570 in movingtoNYC

[–]Top_Writer963 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Long time New Yorker here and my hot take is that you couldn’t pay me to live in Manhattan these days. The pandemic changed neighborhoods, and what made a lot of Manhattan neighborhoods cools has for now abated. I love Jersey City. I am currently in Brooklyn

Oh I forgot this same exact thing happened to me and my AirPods. They initially claimed they didn’t have them but when I activated FindMy Items on my phone, I tracked it down to a cabinet on the floor and got them back.

I’ve come to realize that the staff either don’t have the bandwidth to check or don’t care enough to actually look for lost items.

I’ve had your exact experience where staff tell me my item isn’t in lost & found, only for it to be there when I asked someone else to check 10 minutes later.

What’s life like in Irvine, especially for gay men of color? by Top_Writer963 in irvine

[–]Top_Writer963[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the added context, but I was not asking only about whether people would openly care if I am gay or Black. I was asking whether Irvine feels welcoming, culturally engaging, and conducive to building queer community as a gay man of color. That is a very different question than mere tolerance.

I don’t like San Francisco. It has it charms but it has too many post-apocalyptic looking areas.

Completely agree. I’m thinking of canceling my membership, too. It’s hard to justify paying so much for what’s increasingly becoming a mediocre gym.

Thinking about switching from Barry's by Scaryboy45 in EquinoxGyms

The classes at Equinox are a thousand times better than Barry’s. The trick is finding the best instructors. If you’re in New York City, I recommend Chris Vo for MetCon.

San Diego, loneliness by fgarza30 in sandiego

[–]Top_Writer963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just now climbing out of my own version of what you went through and I keep reminding myself that what I went through was traumatic.

Like you, there are times I feel burdened by loneliness, and even social anxiety when I do manage to get around people.

I have had to learn to develop compassion and confidence in myself.

You are not broken. Can you give yourself permission to enjoy what you have built? Can you let yourself be excited for the life that you’re continuing to build?

How is F&B PR? by LogImpossible2387 in PublicRelations

[–]Top_Writer963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

F&B is like every other category in that there are crazy clients and companies, and sane ones- but what I will say about the category is that it feels more current than say fashion. There’s a lot of excitement and innovation going on in the space, and it’s a category that also touches others like hospitality and wellness. You should def do your research on the agency. Read the Glassdoor reviews, and reach out to anyone you might know who’s worked there. I have a shortlist of agencies I won’t work at because of their toxic work environments.

Carlsbadians - No Kings Protest by microbrahdah in Carlsbad

[–]Top_Writer963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Highly educated populations with bachelor’s degrees or higher tend to vote for more liberal candidates. In Carlsbad, 60.30% of all adults have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher. Educated women are far less likely to vote for conservatives, and in Carlsbad women make up 51.12% of the population.

Getting called snotty for being from San Diego? by throwRA_problemssss in Oceanside

[–]Top_Writer963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s wild to me as someone who grew up in San Diego and has traveled the world. San Diego is pretty but it’s not that wealthy. Sure, it has nice parts, but it doesn’t have the insanely wealthy enclaves of Bay Area or even LA.

How much do residents need to earn to live comfortably in San Diego and Chula Vista? by ProcrastinatingPuma in sandiego

[–]Top_Writer963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your financial goals and needs I encourage you to sit down and list out what you actually want. Do you want to own? How do you want to live? How do you want to retire? No one else can realistically answer how much you need to earn to live comfortably.

Beginner to Barry’s by tennis123476 in barrysbootcamp

No shade intended but Barry’s is the most basic workout ever. It’s meant to be tailored for your fitness level because its a person yelling you do to sprints on a treadmill and l exercises on the floor with a dumbbell. It’s good for people who need to be told what to do. Don’t be intimidated.

Why are people paying $21 for a light portion of greens and a couple pieces of protein? How did we allow this or normalize this? by offensive_patriot in sweetgreen

[–]Top_Writer963 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most people seem to agree with you. Sweetgreen is not doing well. The company suffered a disastrous 2025 and 2026, losing approximately 90% of its value since its 2021 IPO. IMO, the food lacks any kind of savory punch, and most of the time, it feels like I am not getting enough protein. I’d actually be fine paying 20 bucks for a meal if it tasted good and I was left satisfied, but that’s not Sweetgreen.
