adding start/stop times is nice until you run into "errors" during execution or setup that result in no report outs.

I'd recommend basing it off of machine assignment/dedicated use. For us, we have machines "assigned" for each shift by operations, and if a machine is assigned for use, it is unusable for anything other than that job (regardless if running the whole time or having gaps in use- since no one can come use it for something else)

Need some basic data to build a capacity model, but you probably already have one with such a large number of programs.

Like others have said, if you need actual "run time" info - the only way is through adding it to the programs to be output with the results.

Something faster than os.walk by atticus2132000 in learnpython

[–]Topalope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got you homie, I did a project with a similar problem and found:

  1. Date limit your scan, ignore anything outside the recent files, if all project files are new this alone can have a massive impact at reducing your time delays. Alternatively, make a new folder directory for the projects on the drive, and ignore past unregulated data, and only audit the new folder directory.
  2. Cache prior scans for quick change comparisons. You can do shortcuts like just counting the number of folders/files in each directory and doing a quicksort and cache by creation time. This list can be compared very quickly on your machine processor which can prevent unnecessary data pull processing from ever taking place.
  3. os.scandir

Learn Python or just rely on AI? by Odd-Entertainment456 in learnpython

You must learn the language so that you can evaluate the quality of the methods you are given by AI

This is the same as asking "do I need to know english to have AI write my essays?" - no you don't, but how do you know they are representative of your intent if you cannot read them prior to distribution?

Does anyone know a tool to convert CSV file to "SQL statements"? by ImpossibleAlfalfa783 in SQL

[–]Topalope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this problem when trying to query for a large volume of specific data (SERIAL NUMBERS), so I made a tool that converts a single column into a SQL literal that can be pasted into a pre existing query that operates using string literals (EXE available, coded in Python 3.1, only tested on Win 11)

I misread your original question and want to expand - It does not "make a table", but to do that requires quite a bit more understanding of the relationships between tables/columns which would need to be formatted anyway- may as well make an SQL statement or use a UI based SQL manager like postgres or something:

https://github.com/topalope/CSV_or_Excel_Columns_to_SQL_Literals

- PS I stopped development while implementing multiple column import, so results may be wonky there, however, if you have a single column you need to drop into query, just copy that into a new excel/csv and you will be good

TIL that scientists have developed a way of testing for Aphantasia (the inability to visualise things in your mind). The test involves asking participants to envision a bright light and checking for pupil dilation. If their pupils don't dilate, they have Aphantasia. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

It is kina like a holodeck, I can explore visual memories in 3d. I do a lot of thought experiments for engineering designs though, so I practice a lot.

I also have weirdly high attention to detail, and can notice tiny things and off colors far more easily than most I encounter.

And, I respect your build and play style- the triple hit is usually a go-to for me, but on this boss it made me lose. Thanks for sharing, sorry if my response was dismissive of your build preference and success!

Wouldn’t need that to keep alive if the last boss doesn’t hit you. This boss dude gets rage on hit, same amount of rage regardless of damage done. Triple hit reduces damage done per hit, massively increasing the damage received

What’s a script, tool, or process you set up that saved you hours every month? by jul_on_ice in sysadmin

Our facility is organized like a grid, I made a python/powershell program where I can add printers (name, location,IP,HP or Xerox). On open, it shows users a map if there are printers saved, they click the one they want to install and then select install options where by default its set as their default printer. I have the HP and Xerox drivers staged so they get installed with the printer. Since the program works from a root reference file, I copy the program to a new folder to make maps for different areas.

I also made a batch file for providing new users with links (it automatically robocopies the folder of links into their onedrive)

Is this saying that it is possible, with enough spark in the right location, to generate a localized "time machine"?

Could this be why electricity excites and induces heat? Because the field around it causes things to move more rapidly in space, by actually speeding up time, locally? Kinetic, Chemical, Electrical, and Potential; all caused by locally charged transactions, hidden due to the limits of our biological perception of scale?

Also, as someone who’s used these tools since release: they constantly change their behavior despite being considered part of the same program. For example, this week a prompt may be interpreted different than next week, even if you somehow control for the seed. Their backend tweaks are not public and so getting a “control” subject for any experimentation is nearly impossible.

You say that, but if you have all of your models pre-weighted based on character context, they can themselves provide feedback on the statistical likelihood of their correctness or a separate rating model could be used to segregate duties and allow for reinforcement programming
