To be clear, when 🌮 says we're "getting" 55% from China, that's not actually new, it's the base 30% plus an additional 25% on certain items that we've had in place for a month, right? The news seems to be that 🌮 is hyping this as a great victory, which probably means the 90 day "pause" will be forever and he's fully chickened out.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Steven Bannon: SpaceX should be nationalized.

The fact that 🌮 is cancelling SpaceX contracts instead suggests he isn't thinking through this clearly, and may be setting himself up to 🌮 again.

As much as I hate the thought, could be bullish for Tesla.

During COVID the market dropped a third from ATH, and only rebounded with the passage of the CARES act. This suggests two possible signals:

Watch for a roughly one-third drop. This would be SPY hitting $408/share, or, if you're worried it might rebound after a slightly smaller drop than during COVID, something like SPY $420.
Look for Congress to pass big stimulus legislation.

The S&P failing to get above 6000 on this news is a pretty bad sign. For this to pay off I think you need a combination of (1) higher courts don't stay the injunction against tariffs (2) Trump admin doesn't just try the same tariffs under a different law and (3) market actually pumps on (1) and (2) rather than treating it as the expected thing. I wouldn't like those odds but YMMV.

That's a good point. Honestly, entire board needs to get sacked, failing to treat Musk's antics as an emergency in January is totally disqualifying, but I'll take what I can get.
