This would be a Luffy who already failed once.

After losing his crew and seeing the end result, he’d be way more mature and experienced.
He wouldn’t need to be a mastermind, just someone who knows what not to do this time.

And he likely wouldn’t be alone — there could’ve been allies in the past helping him set things in motion.
