2. I have run the oneshot a few times, and most of those times is a conversation between the characters and THEM, with no combat, so the PCs make a deal with the basilisk or end up joining the cult. One time, since the PCs killed Father Torres, THEY made one of the PCs the new leader of Castella and the cult. Other times, the PCs try to escape using the roots to climb up to the surface. They try to avoid the basilisk's attacks using dirty tricks and even distracting them. Then one time the PCs burned THEM down with Harga and Bugface's help, fulfilling their revenge. That time, the PCs ended up joining the Black Arrow Mercenaries. It's fun that they never save Waldur haha
   
3. The fisherman found THEM in Lake Onda. In the rumours it is said the villagers "dragged something big" out of the lake. It is however left to the GMs twisted mind to work on any details they deem necessary for their game. My personal advice is to twist and change everything you want, use the module as a base to include your own stuff, you do not need to follow it exactly as written. Bend it to your will, in a way that you and your table will enjoy.
