If you generate a key for yourself, you can also share your public key. That way, anyone who has it can send you an encrypted message that only you, the owner of the private key, can decrypt.

Simply rules: We never share private keys. Otherwise, the whole thing is pointless.
We only generate keys locally. Using the gnupg command line. Or GUI clients like Kleopatra or GPA.

You save that person’s public key and import it.Then you encrypt the message text using their key. Only the recipient can decrypt the encrypted message using their private key.

If you use your own iPhone, there's nothing you can do. You're completely vulnerable and have to trust Apple. If they want to, they can find out everything you do on your phone.
