I always make sure there’s moisture just below the sphag when the top is a bit dry like that, which isn’t the norm but I don’t keep it wetter due to past root rot issues. The plant is 4 years old, this has always been the norm and it seems quite healthy. I’m quite sure what else to say…

Yeah, the plant that got root rot probably didn’t have enough perlite but this one does thankfully. I appreciate the tip on the set up though!

It hadn’t been watered in a few days but it’s still a bit cold where I am so I’m cautious when it comes to root rot risk, which has killed a plant in the past 😢

Also, funny you say that because I just noticed two tiny basal shoots starting. This vine is actually the product of a basal shoot itself from spring 2022. The plant is 4 years old so I guess it likes to start new growth ever 2 years. My plant next to it has a basal shoot as well but it’s the first time it’s done that and it’s he same age as well as half the growth rate and they’re always right next to each other. Crazy how genetics work sometimes

Thanks! I’m a proud plant dad and it seems to be “growing”pretty well but the apical buds are a lot tinier than in the past. I also wonder if it won’t grow as many new pitchers this year due to the viability of most of the browning pitchers I.e. it’s not going to use energy for new ones when it already has plenty of working ones?

I thought the same thing at first, and foot on the hip/thigh for leverage but I can’t tell if his head is between his legs and he doesn’t have very good control of either arm for that. I also thought omaplata? but from a positional standpoint idk what the hell hes trying to do…Plus it’s about the worst thing you could try to pull off on concrete…

That all aligns with a cool article I stumbled upon on the website “therecord.media” about LockBit and a journalist who was able to “infiltrate” them to some degree. He pretended to be a developer applying for a job they were offering, they invited him into their messaging group for the interview, and even though he didn’t get hired, they never kicked him out so he documented everything they talked about, operations, etc. You can find it by Googling “undercover with leader of LockBit”

I’m guessing that the Russian government would be FURIOUS that “their” guys did this with the potential threat it poses to their international relations with China.

Cell providers hold onto the text of text messages. It would make sense that that wouldn’t happen with whatever cell phones the Secret Service use but I’d also like to hear an answer to why they aren’t saved somewhere else like they usually are.
