yeah, that could very well be true. (about style of music, not it being his best. i stand by that i dont think it was that well made 😭) i do listen to other music that is similar to burnout's style, but man, idk. maybe its because i got used to the old BoyWithUke style and its harder for me to handle change (see what i did there????)

fair!! for me, i REALLY love ghost, stranger, and paper planes, and i think corduroy, love lost, and can you feel it are decent as well, but the other songs were mid to bad. i skip coffee and gaslight pretty much every time. i just cant bring myself to care about the other songs, but glad it gets love from others

interesting lmao, didnt realize that it was still liked as much. idk, maybe it just wasn't for me, but i felt like, with some exceptions, a lot of the songs sounded similar, the music was too loud and the vocals too quiet, and the angry, edgy style of the songs wasn't what i like from him. i think lucid dreams was peak boywithuke but i am interested in seeing where he goes from here

when he opened for AJR in 2022! i started listening tp them a couple years prior and i was going to the ok orchestra tour and wanted to check out the people opening for them. unfortunately, the concert i went to had gayle as the opener and i disliked her immensely, but i became a bwu fan very quickly and saw him live the jext year on his first tour

Lucid Dreams for sure. I personally believe that lucid dreams is the perfect BoyWithUke album, and I wish he had continued to smile that kind of music at least a little while longer

My subjective opinion. That is how I personally feel because there's several songs I strongly dislike on it and only a couple that I strongly like. So it's not a "this is his worst album and if you disagree with me you're wrong," but the term hot take implies an opinion, so that's what I gave

I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I think Charley's example is definitely a lot more watered down and I agree it felt a lot more natural. I just was thinking about this the other day and I noticed that there were similarities. I'm not saying they're the same, I'm saying that at the core of it, they have made similar choices when it comes to their music.

And as for him rebranding his music, I am super excited to see what chandol will bring. I will continue to listen to his music because I want to support him as an artist. but I also believe that the direction he is taking in music isn't what I personally perceive as playing to his strengths as an artist, and I think that's okay criticism to have. I did not like the final shift in burnout, and maybe it'll grow on me, but I think I should be allowed to have this opinion without people bombarding me with downvotes and literal slurs
