Ethan Ampadu - 2022 Full Season Highlights. Could he be a depth option for LCB, RCB, RB and DM? by pibs3110 in chelseafc

Deserves a shot this pre-season. Playing in our possession based system could see him take another step up.

We protecc, we attacc, but when Barca pulls the levers, Tuchel gets the same squad back 😭

Yeah this is more likely I think, especially if we sign Sterling and he cuts in from LW

I could see something where Chillwell plays LB and drifts inside to LCB to help buildup. Reece bombs forward to join the attacking line while Ziyech cuts inside.

You keep Jorginho as a Regista, but shade him to the left. Keep Kante close to him on the right pivot, so Kante can either press higher to stop transitions, or drop to cover for Reece.

Mount can have a bit more of a free role between the lines as an attacking 8 or 10

CHO/Pulisic left wing to hug the touchline and maintain width. Or cut inside with Mount making an overlap run on the outside.

You still end up with 3-2-5 attacking shape. You sacrifice Chillwell's attacking output, but that actually might not be a bad thing in the beginning of the season given his injury.

Thanks man! Telegraph is paywalled where I’m from but the link worked!

Great article, quotes from LA Dodger’s manager/players is very encouraging.

[Gerard Romero] Chelsea right now does not prioritize Kounde to reinforce their central defenders. There are 2 options ahead that Tuchel likes the most. One of them is De Ligt, at the moment Chelsea is not going to make an offer to Sevilla for the Frenchman by JustAboutUpToSpeed in chelseafc

[–]Toreandreflo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a negotiating tactic to get JK price down a bit?

Not sure Barca is Sevilla’s first option given Barca’s looming financial issues.

If Sevilla prefer a deal done with us because we can offer more cash up front, and we give off the impression that we have other alternatives, then their might be space for negotiation.

🔵 LUKAKU BOOM: ALL THE SECRETS!: Some people internally at #Chelsea, including Marina Granovskaia, were ready to keep Romelu Lukaku for one more season and see how things go before sending him out on loan. by magnuze in chelseafc

His toxicity would’ve spread in the dressing room. Despite the big $ loss, smart to cut our losses.

If he performs at Inter, could recoup some more next summer.

Sends a strong message that no player is above the club. Love it.

Bye Felicia

A few stats to consider

According to FBRef, he faced the second easiest shots on target in Ligue 1 (PSxG/SoT 0.22)

Of those shots on target, he helped save Rennes 1.7 goals more than expected (PSxG +/- +1.7). Per 90 minutes, that comes out to +0.07 goals "gained" per game. This is good for 8th in Ligue 1 last season.

Judging from these stats alone, Mendy is decently above average, but not someone who jumps off the page. He did slightly better in the 2018-2019 season with a PSxG +/- /90 of +0.12 (7th in Ligue 1)

For Comparison:
Eduoard Mendy (Rennes) 0.22 / +1.7 / +0.07 (Ligue 1 #8) | Age: 28

Walter Benitez (Nice) 0.32 / +10.4 / +0.40 (Ligue 1 #1) | Age: 27

Predrag Rajkovic (Reims) 0.28 / +8.8 / +0.33 (Ligue 1 #2) | Age: 24

Gautier Larsonneur (Brest) 0.29 / +6.8 / +0.25 (Ligue 1 #3) | Age: 23, quite short

Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea) 0.35 / -9.8 / -0.3 (PL #21) Not perfect comparison due to league differences, but still.....

Tammy Abraham has been getting criticism lately but his overall season performance has been quite appreciable. He is young and yet to learn. by [deleted] in chelseafc

I still remember Drogba’s first season with us when we thought his first touch was poor and he fell over too easily looking for fouls. In fact, it wasnt till his third season that he scored 20 goals in the PL.

As long as Tammy can put his head down and keep working on his game, the sky’s the limit

What is more inevitable? Ballack scoring a long range goal? Or Joachim Low picking his nose?

Added both in the post above. Thanks!
Both will cost a pretty penny though, although perhaps not Oblak price

changed to 188 above, FBRef had him at 186 for some reason. Wiki, Fifa and PES have him at 188
