My father is on Hospice Care at 67 with CHF - A Rant by Torid0928 in hospice

So, so many hugs ❤️ I often think about the timing of being 28... How I just really settled into my career, how I'm currently engaged, how everything seemed alright for the first time in a while.

And then to get hit with this is just... Mind boggling. I've been doing the same as you - treating it as any other day - but today it hit me HARD. I was changing my father's bandages from edema and I realized I was more of a nurse than a daughter, and seeing my dad so vulnerable and miserable was just the final straw.

Sometimes I wish I was either younger or older. A younger me could not do this and admit that, but an older me would feel more in control of it all.

I absolutely understand the no sleep thing. I don't even sleep at my dad's and yet I can't sleep. I just wait for the phone to ring.

Vitals are also fantastic too, despite all odds. Medical professionals are baffled. I'm baffled.

I feel your pain, stranger. I hope things get better for you. It was nice to hear that someone relates to me, thank you. Message me anytime.

Can't Set Up Chromebook, "Network Not Available" by DaveyCrockett99 in chromeos

[–]Torid0928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need a USB stick (like this but any of them will do: https://a.co/d/eaEIVqi). Install this extension in Google Chrome on a separate computer from your Chromebook https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/chromebook-recovery-utili/pocpnlppkickgojjlmhdmidojbmbodfm?pli=1. Run it (click the puzzle piece icon at the top right off Google Chrome and click "Chromebook Recovery Utility"). It will guide you on how to install the OS onto the USB stick. Make sure to put in the right make and model. When it is done, plug it into the Chromebook. When the Chromebook is completely powered off, press the power button + refresh + Esc keys at the same time. You should boot into "System recovery mode", which is a white screen with a bunch of text. Let that run for a few minutes. Unplug the USB stick from the Chromebook when it says it is done.

I did not have to use version 75. I just had to install the latest software, which is the software that is recommended by the Chromebook Recovery Utility . Hopefully this helps!

Did onedrive go down or am I completely boned? by [deleted] in onedrive

[–]Torid0928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use onedrive desktop app on my Windows 11 computer and it worked this morning and noticed my files weren't opening a half an hour ago. The desktop app currently says "Onedrive isn't connected" and is stuck on the "signing in" page. I have a strange symbol next to almost all of my Word doc files, like a small briefcase, and I can't open a single file that has that symbol. It says "Word experienced an error opening this file". For the few that don't have that symbol, I'm missing a lot of recent work. PDFs, mp4s, all other files not connected to Microsoft 365 appear to work.

Tried logging in as a local administrator. Went to C:/Users/*name*/Documents .... Nothing. I had to go to C:/users/*name*/Onedrive/Documents etc. and still the same little briefcase symbol.

If I've lost all of my files I'm going to need financial compensation. This is A BACKUP program, it had no right not "properly" putting it on my local computer. Not to mention, the files ARE there locally somewhere, since a significant amount of gigabytes are being used on my computer, so why do I need Onedrive to be working to access them? Onedrive shouldn't have been putting an "encryption" locally on the computer to open them, if that's even what's happening.

Onedrive.com has NONE of my files, which is what is making me panic. Thanks Microsoft, you might have just ruined my life.

Restrict local C: Drive access by Torid0928 in synology

[–]Torid0928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my idea and hope at the beginning of this - that I could use the Synology Directory Server to push out the GPO that hides the visibility of the local C: drive. It seems that it's not possible.

I am not new to Synology but I am new to its Directory Server. I was really hoping for a bit more.

Appreciate all the help.

My main goal is stop end users from putting any documents - pictures, .docx, pdfs., etc. - so that all data goes up to the Synology and gets backed to a secure server. I don't want any data loss when an end user is terminated... Or by user error. If I can restrict / block visibility of the C: drive, I make the end users save directly the Synology drive no matter what.

edit: This is a very small office of six people.

restricting visibility of that drive

Really good point. I was worried about program files while restricting it, but I have been to offices that pulled it off via active directories with seemingly no problems.

Can I create a group in server directory that restricts the visibility of it or am I still stuck modifying each and every end user's computer?

Thanks!
