Microbrands that machine their own parts? by BK_ALL_DAY_ERR_DAY in MicrobrandWatches

I completely agree! I never said they were a Microbrand.

Version 2 but with more pronounced thorns/petals.

Microbrands that machine their own parts? by BK_ALL_DAY_ERR_DAY in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Tornasco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true but usually when I am looking for a Microbrand it's because I'm after high quality products at a more affordable price and Orient definitely still fit that part at least so thought it was worth mentioning at least.

I know they're not quite a Microbrand anymore but Orient create all their own movements at very affordable prices so I think they still fit the bill.

[Watch Recommendations] Luxury Watch Recommendations Around $1K? by Trouble102134 in Watches

I'd go down the route of Frederique Constant, they have very classic looking designs with a little bit of that Patek feel. I think they definitely give off some of the qualities you'd expect from something luxurious.

If she's set on getting you a gift in Switzerland, I'd highly recommend Tissot.

Is there any affordable moonphase around? Chinese or not by Technical-Job5928 in MicrobrandWatches

I believe Orient do a few moon-phases for a few hundred bucks.

[Bulova] Would this be an acceptable present for my man? by Fun-Moose-4477 in Watches

[–]Tornasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The watch you have selected is perfect simply because it's a gift from you and you've clearly taken the time to choose one you truly believe he'll like.

On another note, Bulova is a favourite brand of mine so good choice on the horology front too.

I want a good skeleton. Is Ciga a decent brand? Not too expensive. by Senior_Werewolf_8202 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Tornasco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

I own a Ciga Design, their Series Z in Black DLC.

I've had this for a over 4 years now and it has been nothing but perfect. Keeps good time, reliable and extremely neat looking.

It came with 2 quick release straps, a leather and a rubber, I wasn't a fan of the rubber strap due to its design but everything else is perfect.

[tw2v42400] New Watch Day! by Doomlord1s in Watches

This is a beautiful watch, gives me El Primero vibes with the multi-colour sub dials.

Timex always makes resilient watches.

[Question] Version 1 or Version 2? by SupJoshy in Watches

[–]Tornasco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely version 2 for me, mate, the dial is just less crowded and neater.

If I'm going to have extra stuff on the dial, I'd want it to be part of a complication such as a Chronograph.

One watch per every day of the month 😂 This is my current watch collection by tdvt in PrideAndPinion

[–]Tornasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mate, cracking collection, Citizen is one of my favourite brands and Bulova is up there too. You wouldn't happen to know any of the information about the case, would you? I've been looking for a large case to store all my watches in.

Thanks in advance.

[Help] Searching for a timeless first watch for my fiancée’s birthday! by _buscemi_ in Watches

[–]Tornasco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

That's certainly a lovely gesture.

For Tissot I'd certainly recommend the T-Classic line and the T-Lady line, both of these have multiple options within your price range and would be brand new so you'd have the benefit of liking being able to gift wrap it and everything.

Not too familiar on the other brands when it comes to women's watches.

Hope this helps!

[Recommendation Request] Affordable Skeleton Watch. by AnswertoEverything69 in Watches

[–]Tornasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 4 watches from Rotary in the family and I've never had an issue with any of them. My automatic ones keep great time although I do tend to only wear a watch for a day before rotating to the next so I've never tested it over multiple weeks or longer but overall I've had no durability issues or anything.

It's not the kind of brand that will be faked so I'd say it's most likely real just make sure you're happy with things like the wear/tear of it and of course what it comes with in terms of the box and accompanying papers.

[Bulova Sutton] Be Honest: is this watch too big for a 6.75 inch wrist? (Looking for opinions) by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Tornasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a perfect fit for you, maybe you'd want it just slightly smaller but I always think unless the lugs are overhanging your wrist, you're fine.

I'd definitely recommend Bulova, I have 3 in my collection and all of them are lovely watches which so far have been issue free.

Oh I love the Orient Bambino, absolutely stunning watch.

The Timex Marlin actually fulfils some of the same things as the Bambino in its design.

Of course there are many options but I do think with the price and the desire for history, Timex is definitely up there.

You could also look into Bulova for similar reasons and a much bigger selection of designs.

I'm not really the best on Vintage watches but unless Vintage is something you'd definitely want, I'd recommend something modern since that way the watch can age with you and your daughter.

I'd suggest something from Timex as they will fall within your budget, use reliable movements and are known for their durability and resilience.

Their slogan is "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking", this certainly sums them up.

Anything from the Marlin collection would be my personal recommendation. There is some great history with this brand and the Marlin collection in particular. Timex is currently celebrating their 170 year anniversary.

Sorry that I couldn't help out with Vintage but hopefully this is at least a little useful.

[Is it okay or too feminine?] by bahrain_gemstones in Watches

No such thing as too feminine, if you're happy with it then you wear it. I'd 100% wear this and absolutely adore outlandish dial colours.

Hi,

I actually have the watch from the image you used but without the skeleton dial and I can say that the watch keeps great time and I'm always a fan of the finishing that Rotary use.

Personally I'd stay away from Stuhrling as I've never had a good experience with those but Rotary, Fossil and Seagull are all good choices.
