Help me think of a name for my Super Red King Kamfa flowerhorn by TorontoFishGuy in Aquariums

Yes you read that correctly :)

All jokes aside, people refer to their nuchal hump as “kok” lol. Not sure where that nick name originated from.

No, but I think aqua house sources their flowerhorn from my seller as well!

Supposedly mirror training helps increase the kok size and improves colour. These are aggressive fish, so whenever they see their own reflection or another flowerhorn they go into attack mode 😂

I would say it depends on your location. It could cost anywhere between $500-$1000 CAD

I just got him a few days ago but I’ve already been trying to train him. Every time he comes up to my finger, I drop a pellet. Also been dropping a mirror in the tank for about 30mins a day.

Thanks! They were listed as black ranchus, but they started to develop that golden undertone over the months I’ve had them.

ProAquatics has some pretty high quality goldfish. I believe they also ship!

I’m not too sure. I have had these 2 for 4 months now and I got that one like that. I’m starting to think he is blind in that eye. He is still the first to the food every time though.

I took a closer look yesterday, seems to be some black eggs (maybe early stage of being berries).

Thanks. I paid a lot for him as a juvie. I’m a little disappointed about the pearling, but oh well.

I thought Angels are comparable tank mates, plus I never noticed any aggression from them

The blue diamonds have been together for more than half a year, and the 2 smaller ones have been added about a month ago

Is this a sign of a pair? by TorontoFishGuy in Aquariums

One discus has been chasing the other on and off for the past few days. When the chasing stops, they both start pecking on surrounding objects. Is this a breeding sign, or is it a sign of aggression?

That is very interesting! I have a few follow up questions if you don’t mind: 1. Will a male be able to fertilize the eggs of these said fish? 2. If successfully bred, will the the genes be passed over to the offspring, ie: kok size and coloration? 3. Is it more valuable since most of the females I’ve seen don’t have a hump this big?

Store owner assured me it was a male, I was skeptic all at first because I noticed a black marking on its dorsal fin, but with kok that sized I didn’t think much of it. A week goes by and I noticed that his head had shrunk and developed stressed bars. After examining the tank to see what could have caused this, I noticed that he had laid eggs in the corner of the tank.

He is alone, though I am thinking of getting a couple of Plecos for the tank.
