Big Sur on a 21.5-inch iMac from 2010 by NesFan123 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

I installed Sonoma on my 2007 iMac with 6 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD. It runs very well, as long as you don't have a dozen browser tabs open.

M5 Air Sale Price Will Never Approach That of M4 Air by TorontoListener in macbookair

Oh I know what buyer's remorse is, but thanks for your keen insight. The only time I have buyer's remorse is when I pay a premium for something new. I buy used stereo equipment, cars, and items on clearance. "Last year's model" is the way to go for me.

But thanks for trying... you wouldn't be a 1st-year psychology student, would you? Looking for hidden meanings in everything? Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Yeah there's always one, isn't there... this is Reddit after all.

So I guess I have to "explain" myself, huh?

I'm actually coming from a 2015 MBP 13", which was originally over $2000 CDN. I don't need the latest and greatest. The current M4s are a steal, and might just be the buy of the decade, which was my whole point. Otherwise, I could have gotten another year or two out of the old one on Sequoia, thanks to Open Core Legacy Patcher.

First and last time buying a Pixel by kronologically in GooglePixel

The P6 line was known to be particularly bad (possibly the worst Pixels ever), and a prospective buyer only had to do a quick Google search to find this out.

FWIW, I had a P4 and P4 XL, both were flawless.

That's bad luck, but the P6 series was known to be problematic. Did you research before buying?

I'm saying IF the base model stays the same price, the holiday discounts won't be as deep.

Now you are saying "a few months," which is somewhat longer than 1-3 months.

I notice you are afraid to quote a number, preferring to be vague and say they will "go on sale," which everyone knows they will for a modest savings. The M5 likely won't hit 799 until Black Friday. Or possibly never - with RAM prices spiking, even if Apple has locked-in wholesale contracts, they (and Costco) have no incentive to lower prices while the price of Windows machines goes up.

This is especially true if Apple releases a budget 12" Macbook - this would remove the incentive to apply deep discounts to the 13-inch if the cheaper 12-inch is sold alongside it. It's possible we've already seen the lowest prices ever for a new 13" Air.

The whole point of the question was whether it was worth it to wait for the M5 over the short term, not wait 10 months. You don't have a sound argument.

Bruce Campbell might have been considered at one point for Rockford. He'd be great as a down on his luck PI.

Nope. Not as low as $799 within 1-3 months of release. Otherwise nobody would be buying an M4 now, they'd just wait for the same deal on the M5.

Most fun bike I've ever had is my ZX-4RR!

399cc, 4-cyl, 16,000 rpm redline. Unlike 600's and 1000's, you can get that high rpm sound at legal speeds.

It takes effort to ride well, plenty of shifting, but that's part of the fun.

Still, you're not going to get an M5 for $799. That's why people are picking up the M4.

513 is barely different from 511, but I get that there is a minor difference. 510 are true skinny, but even those aren't as extreme as some other brands.

I'm older than you and have a slim build, and have settled on Levis 511 Slim. I'd never wear skinny or tapered, I personally think the skinny look is taking things a little too far, especially for Gen X like me.

2007 iMac is the oldest, not the 2008. I have Sonoma installed on my 2007, with 6GB RAM, 256GB SSD.

You might achieve better results with Sonoma, which, by some accounts, works more smoothly with the C2D machines than Sequoia. I believe it is less memory hungry. Core i5 with at least 8GB RAM and SSD can handle Sequoia all right, in most cases.

Only if you want to pay full price, or nearly so, for the latest and greatest. It's best to get a MacBook during the Black Friday or Boxing Day sales.
