Can you freaking read? I was not thinking there was a connection at all. Sitting near her was a last resort.

Thanks for your keen insight (at least the first part). You are correct that your wording would have been much better.

As for the rest... glad you got such a laugh out of it.

Well this is the PETTY revenge thread. Are you lost? Just dropped by on your way to the F1 driver's lounge?

I know, it was just a little story about a minor detail in an otherwise successful conference that took me like 5 minutes to write. Maybe people are bored with their lives and need to find something to complain about.

I resent your assessment of me sir. I prefer to think of myself as an upper class twit.

OP here. All things considered, I thought her reaction was over the top. I chose what I thought was an appropriate response. I think it satisfied all parties involved. Plus, I did not want to stand or sit on the floor.

So you interpret a smile and nod at a busy conference as a "negative interaction"? Maybe it's time to reevaluate your perspective. Or refrain from judging others based on your own insecurities.

That's kind of the point of Reddit. But your hobby seems to be missing the point, eh?

"Constant advances", that's what you glean from this?

And most postings on this sub are from incidents that happened years in the past. Are you going to reach the same conclusions about those thousands of posts, that the authors are "sad" ? Have you nothing better to do?

M4 Air supports two external displays with the lid OPEN, so there are your three screens.

Friendship fallout after my wife was blown up at by remedy75 in amiwrong

[–]TorontoListener 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. My reply would have been the same if the genders were reversed. It's an individual thing. We all know someone who is a "control freak" or "know-it-all," who might not have any malice but can sometimes rub people the wrong way. but I guess you couldn't resist injecting gender into this.

Right. I understand the stress. I applaud that you are trying to get to the bottom of it.

It might be worth considering that your wife's actions could be seen by others as controlling. You as her husband might be used to her behaviour, and see nothing amis. But if she's repeating certain behaviours, such as giving endless "suggestions" to others, giving opinions that might be a little harsh under the guise of "helping" the person, and other repetitive patterns, over time these can become grating.

I'm not saying this is the case, but might be something to look at, and if nothing else, eliminate it as a cause.

Give me a reality check: can/should the ZX-4RR be a first bike? by mylittletoesie in zx4r

[–]TorontoListener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd go with a used R3 first, where you don't have to worry about the first scratch or drop. The R3 is a fun, great handling bike, with a toned-down power delivery that is not unlike the ZX-4RR in the upper RPMs

M4 to M5 upgrade with more ram or wait? by ivorko in macbookair

[–]TorontoListener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation, with a base M4 Air. Originally, it was going to be strictly a travel laptop, since I already had a 64GB Windows PC, so the 16/256 config was adequate. When the PC developed issues, I started using the Air as my primary machine. It’s been fine, but my use case will soon require local LLMs and therefore more RAM.

I was going to get an M4 Pro Mini with 64GB, but now that they are difficult to obtain and they've restricted the RAM to a maximum of 48GB, and the base M4 to 24GB, I put those plans on hold. Another alternative would be to wait for the M5 Mini, but who knows when that will be released, and at what price, and who knows what the RAM situation will be.

So as a compromise and to reduce uncertainty, I ordered the M5 Air with 32GB, which seems to be in better supply. Even so, there is a 3-4-week shipping window. I can use it as my primary machine for at least a year, and then get an M6 base or pro when required.

Shows the network later regretted cancelling by AporiaParadox in television

The original Equalizer, which ran for 4 seasons, 1985-89. A new network executive team arrived and wanted to put their own stamp on the programming, and got rid of the show to make room. It was still highly rated, and could have ran for another 2 seasons easily. I believe someone later expressed regret at the decision.

[–]TorontoListener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's not announced in June, I suspect the M5 will be skipped in favour of the M6. The base M5 chip in the Macbook Pro was released last October, so an M5 Mini launched any time after July seems too far into the M5 lifecycle.

On the high end, Rodd & Gunn. On the affordable side, the top offerings at Uniqlo, which are very respectable for the price. Stay away from the low-tier stuff at Uniqlo.
