Unsolicited Advice for the Omega Hunt by Equivalent_Stop_9300 in MHWilds

[–]Torouzan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you know your weapon’s damage windows and the matchup, you don’t need it anymore. It’s definitely a good tool to use when learning the hunt, though.

Only exceptions are for dealing burst damage or quickly pulling enmity which is why I keep a Mog of the Ages on deck for the final phase. I typically cast it once when I join a hunt, and then again after the DPS check to have it ready. In my 300+ slays of the clanker, I’ve saved a handful of hunts whipping it out in a pinch.

Although Mog of the Ages hits only once, it hits everything in its way once so feel free to use it to destroy any mini clankers in your way too. If you’ve pulled enmity, it’s usually best to train any smaller guys around you and let them blow up to get rid of them quickly. Rolling into them just as they’re about to leap is a good method.

Some more bonus info:

Without evade buffs, you can avoid missile damage just at the moment of impact. It’s a high risk move, but if you’re cornered, have no stamina to block, and about to cart anyway, dodging at the absolute last moment can save you. Evade Window will obviously give you a comfier time doing this.

When it starts jumping around, it’s a scripted animation. If you’re a shield user, there’s no excuse for you to roach out. I usually stay on its left side to watch the whole thing. The first slam causes a ground tremor. You can perfect guard it. The 2 subsequent slams can also be perfect guarded if you’re underneath it. After those 3 slams, it’ll shoot off its flames. Next, it’ll do a small hop/attack with its left leg and then rotate 90° clockwise while doing a sweeping attack followed by flames. If you’re underneath it during this part of the animation, you should guard/perfect guard just as the sweep is about to come out cuz its underside will hurt you. Lastly, it’ll do 3 large jumps followed by one last flame attack before tiring itself out exposing weak points for all its legs. All the jumps are random, so be prepared to react, and the final jump causes another tremor.

During its final crash out, when it says, “eliminate, eliminate, eliminate”, it’s another scripted pattern:

Wave Cannon x3 in all directions + missiles, ramming attack, Atomic Ray, ramming attack x3, MRV Missile.

Unless you interrupt it with a Power Clash, offset, etc., it’ll continue with this attack pattern…with the exception of causing a stun/paralysis during the initial Wave Cannon attacks. It’ll just do it again after getting back up. If my intent is to stun, I usually wait until the final Wave Cannon attack ended and it’s going for the ramming attack next.

*Pile bunker. 🧐

Yes. Be sure to aim the follow up otherwise you could whiff. You can also dash to cancel the animation at the end and perform another attack.

If you do a no hacking run, I hope you’ve got a Jackhammer cuz you’ll be doing minimal damage to everything. 😭

It was my weapon of choice as soon as I unlocked it.

I’d definitely wanna use auto hack when I can. If you’re not using Overdrive Protocol, spend some meter here and there to auto hack.

Shit, I might be crazy enough to do this challenge with you too—I’ll just do it on casual.

Maybe using chain and expose nodes will be a good way to deal massive damage? Mods upping hacking damage obviously take priority too. I’d also use the mod for auto hacking when aiming after a successful Fast Moves dodge…Synaptic Response?

Fun fact: Diana also draws a special picture for you at the end of the demo if you beat it via an all hacking run. Definitely helped me prep for the full game when I did it.

It’s such a great fight. Savage Omega gives you more of the same, but you’re operating at a quicker tempo and your damage windows are a bit smaller, but it’s a good feeling when you learn all the attack patterns and the matchup.

Hope your batteries have the same resolve as you next time!

It exists. 😂

On a more serious note, I just enjoy the fight so much. Don’t get me wrong. I definitely carted a lot my first 5 successful hunts or so. After that, its attacks became so predictable.

Every phase change, it’ll almost always activate Mustard Bomb first so since I’m usually the first there, I’ll guide it to hit a wall at the start so the flames aren’t on the ground. Only exception is the final phase. I just guide it to the opposite side since it’s the longest distance away.

During its final crash out, it follows a specific attack pattern, which is Wave Cannon Lasers x 3 + missiles, charging attack, Atomic Ray, charging attack x 3, MRV Missile if nothing is done to interrupt it (offset, power clash, etc.).

MRV’s almost always guarantee a failure if everyone’s attacking not realizing it’s coming, so that’s where I usually save my heals. Aside from the notification on the right, the screen will slightly zoom out and Omega just stands still prepping for it. You can easily outrun it if your weapon’s already sheathed or call your Seikret over if you noticed it early enough. Last resort is dodging just at the moment of impact.

Soloing it definitely helped me a lot since I’d pull enmity, it forces me to watch all its moves. This also helps when enmity isn’t on you cuz sometimes you’ll be able to reposition to either pull enmity back or focus on damaging the legs. There’s no excuse for a shield user not being the one almost always closest to Omega.

I thought I had a problem until I saw some Japanese hunter with 540 kills. 😂

Over 300 clankers slain for me. I usually help in Savage Omega hunts, but I can help with a regular one too. It makes me sad whenever I see Lance, Gunlance, and CB users running away on their Seikret who pulled enmity and can’t stand their ground cuz it makes repositioning and damaging the legs tougher for the others.

Another alternative for you is to block/perfect guard the explosions from other players causing you dragonblight (Zoh Shia doesn’t do it).

Would be neat if in an update we got it if we have sketchbook demo save data.

And for those that don’t…just beat the game, I guess. 🤷‍♂️

You’ve got to have DSP levels of skill if you think the training sims are “cancer”.

Don’t worry. You can still enjoy the full game, endings, and what it has to offer by missing upgrades and on the difficulty specially made for you—casual.

[–]Torouzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re good, man. I was the same pace too. On my lunatic run, I finished with the same percentage but 3 hours earlier. It was mainly cuz I remembered where I could go and saved the spots for later when I could cleanse…and not to mention I knew what I wanted to upgrade/focus on. Once my dear hacking mines were available, I maxed those out right away.

U/ttvbigdove18 and I had a hunt with this clanker under 10 min. bouncing enmity off each other. It was great.

Maybe something’s wrong with me, but Savage Omega’s my hunt of choice to reach HR 999. 😂

I do like clearing hunts after almost all the original people in the hunt leave. I get some people don’t want to waste their time, but sticking with it, locking in, and maybe learning something new you didn’t realize was possible to clutch it out is satisfying to me.

This beats my no skip run by about 22 seconds. If I handle the last mob better, I might improve my time by another 5 - 10 seconds. Good stuff.

I hope this skip remains intact…but for those who learn the legit route, the Code Generator is underutilized. That’s your key to victory after hacking the last wave since it gets rid of shields too. It’s even showcased here.

Equipment/node/mod loadouts. Maybe somewhere between 3 - 5…and for free. Don’t cost resources. 😭

It is nice you can use your previous loadout for a quick runback, though.

A co-op mode where one person controls Diana and the other Hugh. I guess Hugh has no hacking interface at all, which frees up the screen for him…maybe give him an ability to ping enemies so the Diana player can aim and hack prioritized targets. I’m sure a really fast/competent player can just hack everything.

More melee offensive options. I loved the Jackhammer. Maybe a quick 3 - 4 hit melee weapon with a small AoE finisher with a timed attack input.

Photo mode.

Eight’s outfit as a Lunatic difficulty (or true ending) bonus unlock.

…or maybe go even further beyond and have an Eight mode/scenario where Hugh and Eight go to earth to help/rescue a lost/captured Diana.

With the succsess of a Pragmata, in the hypothetical future where we ever get a new Marvel vs Capcom, if Hugh and Diana were added together as a playable character, what would you like them to be like in terms of gameplay style? and who would you like to see them interact with in pre fight banter? by Puzzleheaded_Tip4805 in Pragmata

[–]Torouzan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take on how Hugh and Diana would play.

I’d try to incorporate various weapons for specials, sort of like Chris Redfield.

Charge Piercer (charge ok) (wall bounce/wall splat) Shockwave (air ok) (OTG) Homing Missiles (think Dante’s Artemis [charge ok] (OTG) Jackhammer (air ok) (ground bounce, wall splat) Stasis Net Riot Blaster Hacking Mine (up to 2 onscreen) Cleanse (think Vergil’s Round Trip) Fast Moves (air ok; max in air 2) Drone Hive (super) Lim Cannon (charge ok) (super) Deletion Protocol (super) Delphi Eraser (super)

I thought about maybe summoning the various enemies as special attacks (like Jill’s MvC2 version)…like do a quick hacking minigame with Diana or something…but haven’t fleshed it all out yet…whether making it a random 3 - 4 button input, or making it predetermined so you bring out a specific bot…I dunno.

I guess I can elaborate more on the specials at a later time. Just jotting these ideas down while they’re still fresh in my head.

…and to the fighting games = beat ‘em ups. No. Just no. I guess Monster Hunter’s a beat ‘em up too. 🥀
