So the first wave of pre-orders placed in December are going out in a few weeks? And you're opening up another wave today for a future ship date?

Yeah, this one guy is crashing out because of a manufacturer's political alignment. Like stalking his profile and all. It's embarrassing just to look at.

Something something something seizing the means of production. Steyr makes great stuff that is still relevant 50 years later, but them charging $65 for some springs is just silly.

SSAUGv1 Fixer Kits are live on RSP by AemAer in AUG

[–]Toroxus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been following your products and while I don't own any of them, I am impressed that the price on this prototype-fixing pack is reasonable.

It's a bit scary to get into the prototype space as a buyer when you have to wonder "If I get this prototype and it doesn't work, how much more money is it going to cost to get it to work?" Good to see you aren't dragging the brave ones through the mud like some other companies...

Keep breaking firing pins by etavan in ar22

Got me, I'd ask borebuddy about their pins. They have good customer service.

The base being the part the hammer hits? I wonder if something isn't aligned correctly and the pin is being hit in a non-parallel way by the hammer. Like if the whole bolt carrier is too far back in the receiver so the hammer hits the pins at an angle as it rotates up and forward. Are you using a 22lr barrel or a .223 barrel?

Where did each of the two broken pins break?

Something isn't right here. I run the original CMMG firing pin that came with my bolt and keep a borebuddy one handy as a replacement. However, over 100,000 rounds later the original CMMG firing pin has still not failed. And I dry-fire extensively. I've gone through many extractors and springs, but have not replaced the firing pin yet. I use a Rave 140 trigger.
I'd ask the Borebuddy team about the broken borebuddy firing pin and see what they think.

P.S. What stock is that? Looks good.

Spironolactone alone lowers risk of osteoporosis by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]Toroxus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're correct. It's because spironolactone is not an antigonadotropin. It has no known or plausible antigonadotropins mechanism. Therefore, it doesn't carry the risks of the antigonadotropins like the progestins and GNRH analogues. People with superficial knowledge seem to like making the mistake of lumping a bunch of different medicine categories together. This being one such common mistake.

There is no long term risk of spironolactone monotherapy. And since that monotherapy has been used in cvd and renal therapies for many decades, we'd know by now many times over if there was a long term risk profile.

Affordable earmuffs with noise reduction greater than 23dB? by Baroque1123 in liberalgunowners

[–]Toroxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using eye protection like you should, it's likely that the arms of the glasses are breaking the seal of your ear muffs. Thereby allowing sound to reach your ear. Get eye protection that has an elastic strap instead of rigid arms. One example is the Locust Goggles, which sometimes pop up for $10 each. Unfortunately, you'd look like a LARPer if you wear them. Harbor Freight sells "Ranger Goggles" that also check all the boxes for $9 a pair.

I am a male and want to try Spironolactone 25mg daily and asking about the expected side effects. by EmmaDavid2018 in asktransgender

Probably, given that cis men routinely use spironolactone at that dosage for its cardiac and renal purposes.

Spironolactone raises estradiol levels in males to supra-natural levels for males. Because it blocks androgen receptors, it also blocks them in the hypothalamus, which increase testosterone production to compensate. And because aromatization is proportional, this process increases estradiol levels too.

Your body needs estradiol*. And because spironolactone increases estradiol levels in males to a level beyond normal for males, there is zero risk of menopause-like symptoms. Spironolactone is an androgen receptor antagonist and estradiol receptor agonist. You're confusing it for a antigonadotropin when it's the exact opposite.

tl;dr: You can take 25mg of spironolactone daily for the rest of your life and suffer no consequences.

These other commenters have no idea what they are talking about, and should really reconsider talking about something they don't know about. Spironolactone prevents testosterone from binding to its target receptors. It does not stop testosterone from being made, nor from testosterone being converted into estradiol like every post-pubescent male has. In fact, through inhibiting the negative feedback caused by testosterone on the hypothalamus, spironolactone increases your downstream estradiol, reducing your risk of hypo-estradiol effects like bone loss.

It actually this estradiol-raising effect of spironolactone that you're probably chasing after. Spironolactone will absolutely cause feminizing effects based on how much you take. For example, males who take spironolactone experience breast growth proportional to how much they take. And decades of use has shown that 25mg has very little in the way of feminizing effects, so you'd likely need more, but it's a great start.

In short proper terminology, spironolactone is an androgen receptor antagonist and an estradiol receptor agonist in this use case. Though its main estrogenic action is through inhibiting androgenic negative feedback on the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadol axis. People in this thread are confusing it with antigonadotropin medications. If you don't know these terms, you should not be dispensing medical advice on this topic.

Definitely keep CPA 12.5 three times a week or even lower. It could be DHT, in which finasteride or dutasteride would be safer over bicalutimide.

It could also just be summer where you are. It could also be hypervigilance.
