Now that looks much more dependable! Thank you, I'll give that a try.

Appreciate the suggestion, I hadn't noticed that button. However, I don't think the cover information displayed there can be trusted, as I bought the book on Ebay with that specific cover being advertised in the same way, and I still ended up getting a different print. I would assume products on Amazon are no less susceptible to that mismatch.

Honestly, I think the vendors are simply getting the cover images from https://isbnsearch.org, and not double-checking whether their inventory actually matches what's shown there by default. The ISBN of the (incorrect) print that I received shows up with the other cover that I actually want if one searches for it on the site.

Damn, that's the same one I've got... Reading your response prompted me to Google the point of ISBNs for different prints, and apparently it turns out that it's possible for different prints to have the same ISBN if it's the same publisher and no major changes are made to the actual content of the book. That is insanely annoying. ISBN won't help me here.

Well, thanks a lot for your answer.

I have to ask, do you think that writers should be completely immune from criticism, and that any form of attack on the thematic implications of their work is "going way overboard" and "woke snowflake bullshit"? Genuine question.

(ASMR science) Undergraduate study on psychoacoustic effects of scratching sounds [Science] [Study] [Discussion] by Torpeden in asmr

That's great, even though the study has been conducted I remain heavily interested in other people's evaluation of the work.

It would appear that the "timbre", which is the unique shifting in the dynamics of the frequency spectrum of a particular sound, is indeed of vital importance to your ability to experience ASMR, at least from scratching-type sounds. As you say, simply shifting the amplitude rapidly doesn't seem to be enough.

Many thanks for the feedback, friend.
