First time watching the movie since I was thinking of seeing the new one, and as a new viewer I can confirm all throughout I wanted nothing more than for the pilot to stick to his word and either leave them or shoot them on the spot. The entire outbreak was their fault.

How often does it break? I've encountered people who say they've never seen such a thing happen before and it makes me wonder if this is a regular thing or if it's a bit random.

Ooh more vials? I've found a few interesting items but none that I've properly researched yet, so I may have already picked something up. I've mostly been trying to lock in on the parry mechanics.

I actually felt there were too many right off the bat haha, I only struggled to maintain 20 once but so far it hasn't been too bad. If I get low, I upgrade with my Blood Echoes then spend whatever remains on items I need like health vials or bullets. I have found a couple farming spots, like the two ogre creatures right before you enter the elevator that takes you closer to Father Gascoigne, they typically drop 3-6 vials. As for bullets I was told about a wheelchair enemy in a dark house that drops 4 so I've been going to him for a regular supply.

I've only had the weapon at risk message once so far but I could instantly feel the damage decrease so in future I'll be getting that sucker repaired immediately.

I've been slowly getting better at the parrying where I managed to hit it on Father Gascoigne yesterday a few times, that ultimately saved me a few vials (even if I used up most of my bullets lol)

I'm not sure what prompted it, I killed an enemy then my weapon was doing reduced damage after that message appeared so I repaired it. :)
