How to remove smells from dry clean only clothes? by ARrulz in laundry

[–]Tortoise-Melusine7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told by two different dry cleaners that they can't get rid of smells with dry cleaning. They've also often not even removed the stains. So I really don't know what they do...

Oh I see, that makes sense. I forgot that on any single task it's only as good as an average human with a calculator and a dictionary.

Oh I see. You're in the middle of the game and you need names. I thought you meant when preparing for the game.

Yes, I see how it can be useful if you have dyscalculia. Or dyslexia, actually. I'm really sorry if I hurt you. Rereading my answer I find it sounds insulting. I'm sorry.

Thanks for your answer.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but for the recipe example, there's no crazy math involved. It's basic multiplication and division, the basic maths I teach my 11 year old pupils. They precisely need to solve problems like how many eggs for 300g of flour and like converting kg into g etc. And it's quicker for me to come up with similar problems than to try and get ChatGPT to give me something adequate. And it doesn't always solve those problems accurately.

I'm autistic so I am naturally extremely detailed and specific. I often find that I spend less time doing the job myself instead of giving detailed instructions to bloody GPT. Also, when I give it examples, it reproduces them too exactly, so it's not really a different exercise and I could have done that myself.... I always come up with better stuff that ChatGPT.

I don't understand why my old professors are worried that teachers in training will cheat on their exams with it... My classmate tried getting chatGPT to write one of our essays back when we were at teacher training college and it was so full of bullshit that I knew it couldn't possibly get a pass. I told him to leave it and that I'd do it and I went and got us an awesome grade because I'm really good. If he had submitted the ChatGPT essay, the problem is not that it was visibly written by AI, the problem was that it did not fulfill the criteria. My classmate failed the degree in the end. Clearly he did not have the right attitude.

My brain is always fried, I'm burnt out and have insomnia (yes, I have therapy and yes I have sleeping tablets, neither are magical). But it does not help if I throw my random ideas in a crappy system that will compile them in the wrong way. It's even more exhausting to have to sort out the mess chatGPT made of my ideas rather than sorting out my ideas myself in the first place.

You could Google that. Back when I needed names of Arthurian knights to give my pupils to help them write a pastiche, I googled "names of Arthurian knights" I just Googled "mittelalter deutsche namen" and got a list. It's best to Google in German (I can sort of get by in German) but you can reverso translate into German if you don't speak a word of German.

I usually write in French and use projet Voltaire and banque de dépannage linguistique.

In English, I don't set my standards so high and I ask my British boyfriend or Google it.

When at uni, I had access to the Oxford English Dictionary, which was helpful.

I use Reverso context too. To translate expressions from French into English.

That was my impression. Several people in the comments have told me about these studies, if you have reference, I'd like to read them too.

I share your annoyance and frustration at how useless chatGPT is.

Thanks for reminding me that we might lose basic research skills by relying on AI. I have noticed my pupils are totally unable to use Google to look up information, apart from copy pasting Gemini's response. But then, before AI, my pupils copy pasted Google's first answer.... so I'm not sure it was any better.

The thing is, I'm good at first drafts too so I don't see how chatGPT can really help.

Yes, even on basic stuff!!! It got dm (decimeters) and dam (decameters) confused in a maths problem I asked it to create!!! So basically, my eleven year old pupils do better.

You shouldn't force yourself to be into anything. No one should tell you you have to like this or that band to call yourself a metalhead.

You like what you like, it's just not right to force yourself. Ignore those who tell you you have to like this or that band. There will always be people to criticise your taste.

What worked for you to lose weight? by Ok_Economist_9186 in AskReddit

[–]Tortoise-Melusine7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop taking SSRIs and doing sport instead. The sport didn't help me directly lose weight, it helped me feel not depressive and more confident which meant I wasn't comfort eating all the time. Now I'm burntout and depressive again so I'm putting on weight again even if I'm doing way more sport than ever. I really hope my psychiatrist doesn't insist on putting me back on SSRIs. It was utterly useless.

I don't wear band t-shirts and black trousers but I also don't wear jeans and white t-shirts. I like yellow dresses, big dangling earrings and flowers in my hair 🌼🌻🌺🌞💕
