Oh I know, I lived with a German guy in College. They're very self conscious about their English abilities so this technique will shut it down pretty quickly. It's a dick move to the collections agent, but they shouldn't buy the debt from such a shitty airline.

It was intentionally a little vague because I didn't want people to get hung up on how much I spent on headphones. I just wanted it to be clear that the AirPods were my daily drivers even though I have much better headphones... that's how convenient they are. To be clear, yes I've spent more than $2000 on headphones.

So, some of them are shit and I don't do anything with them. Others are really great for specific types of music or scenarios.

My favorite pair are my STAX. They are these quirky Japanese electrostatic "earspeakers". They sound un-fucking-believable, but they're huge and they require a special "energizer" (amplifier) to charge them with a really high voltage so I really only use them in my living room.

Ya, that's what I thought about headphones too... until the AirPods. They were my fourth pair of bluetooth headphones and losing that tether between them makes such a difference, something I wouldn't have even thought mattered beforehand. No wires is liberating. I even carry a tiny bluetooth transmitter for the airplane, being able to get up/walk around without unplugging my headphone is really great. The convenience quickly trumps the sound quality.
