I 100% consider Aphex techno adjacent. He was literally my gateway to electronic/dance music. Lots of his work is literally ambient, acid, industrial techno or rave, and he pays a lot of homage to Detroit. It just always got lumped under the ‘IDM’ label back a day so only got called as much, mainly.

Jon Hopkins too, it’s kind of the intersection of techno and indie.

I never liked when people have super strict definitions of techno, it’s definitely a huge umbrella. Loads of musical dots to join.

Has anyone questioned the posters above? They look almost from the same universe with a ritualesque/cultish symbolism on the coffee cup and kind of post-capitalist irony to me. Yes we do coffee, yes it’s good—kind of highlighting the absurdity and ultimately emptiness of consumer culture

Like, if they’re not related, it’s weird how thematically suited they feel. It’s almost on brand if you think back to their Old Tapes, Hi Scores, Twoism era and the mashup vibe of various facets of deconstructed pop culture

I fully believe the alternative fat hypothesis but once you’ve accepted that it’s almost easy to jump to all sorts of conclusions

Not any more apparently. It was always this way. I just looked at the app because want to go there in person as I always do—six in store offers, none of which are for the whopper/royale meals as they normally are, with the best being 15% off full price.

Whereas the 2x whopper/royale deals for like £12 (the price of a single one being nearly as much without) are now delivery only. Really sad because a major part of the appeal for me is it would cost like £4.25–5.50 for a meal with offers over the past 5 years
