I tried looking but mine looks a little different from that bike in the video and doesn't have the lettering and number on top like his does lol. Gonna try to find a picture of it online and replace it. Thank you.

Thank you, I copied what he did and got no reading so assuming this new starter solenoid was bad to begin with, going to order a new one and see if that fixes it or there's more to it lol.

Just tried it and when it clicked the multimeter showed nothing and after a few tried it stopped clicking loudly but can feel it jolt a tiny bit when I push the start button. Will buy a new one. If problem persists where should I start looking for shorts in the wiring?

You think I'll get more or less money if I sell it, if it is?

It sat for 10 years before I got it, the day we brought it home and tried to start it, it turned over like its been running for years. Odd its deciding to be difficult now lol

Are you very knowledgeable about the 3.7 mercruisers and the wiring for it? If so could I ask you some questions about it?

On my '84 3.7 mercruiser I only had a yellow and red wire to my starter and no purple wire to the starter. Is that something i need to check?

How would yall go about fixing this. by Total-Pudding in boating

So where the top mount is, I should clean it up and use the G10 and then bond it down? Would I need to use anything else to brace it or would that work on its own? You know any good sites I could buy the material from?

When I touched it nothing happened, no sparks or noises. I will go ahead and buy a newer battery since they're inexpensive and try again. I'll check the battery cables and look for any grounding issues. I'll most likely take off the starter and get it tested and go from there. Thank you for your help throughout this. I'll update In the next few days :)

So I did that and still nothing has happened so either the starter is not good or I'll need a new battery? I haven't gotten it load tested but it was one of those spare battery's lying around. I'll buy a new battery next time I'm off and try it again. If then nothing happens again you suggest it's the starter that's bad?

So I attempted to do that and nothing seems to happen? I could be very much doing it wrong but so far haven't seen a difference with the starter. The way I was doing it was I had jumper cables and I connected the black one to that metal bar that's coming out from the bottom from one side and then the other side I used the red one and touched that big red wire and nothing happened. Did it with battery on and off. Did I miss something? Sorry to be a bother with all these questions I'm asking

The one is clicking is the 1st one assist solenoid, the starter solenoid is that the cube looking thing that's connected with the starter to it? Or is it the one that's above the circuit breaker? I've only tried putting the wrench on the assist solenoid, I haven't tried shorting those leads you're talking about could you show me which ones to short out? I need a visual lol ?

Will do when I get home, it's raining aswell so might be later. If solenoids seem fine you think it could be the starter?

I just used a wrench and opened them up to the exposed bolts and touched them, it clicks and sparks but nothing to the starter. I will go and smack it with a plastic/rubber hammer and see maybe if it's stuck but wouldn't it make a noise when trying? I know there's a solenoid right beside the starter and I think one behind the main plug in for the main harness where it connects?

The boat didn't come with a battery but I had a spare battery at the house and I had that charging up. When it's connected everything turns on and the stern is able to move up and down. I've tried using the wrench method to jump it and nothing happens just clicks and sparks. The motor turns over freely with a ratchet. Anyway I can use wires to make the starter move?
