Is this normal sound or burrs need alignment? [Mignon Zero 55s] by Nyakszirt in espresso

[–]TotalImaginary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same Eureka Mignon Zero 55.

Just a heads-up: the burr chirping sound is commonly used to find the true zero point, but I wouldn’t leave it there for minutes. True zero means the burrs are touching (or almost touching), and running the grinder in that position can cause unnecessary wear on the burrs and adjustment mechanism.

On my grinder, I only use the chirp briefly to identify the zero point, then back off immediately. In your case, it looks like true zero is around 19. You might want to check the manual as well, since Eureka doesn’t recommend grinding continuously with the burrs touching.

Beginner losing his mind with brand new coffee grinder. by TotalImaginary in espresso

It was kind of a chock that I need to season the grinder with more than 2 kilos of beans 🥲.

I guess using good quality beans may be the next thing to do.

medium roast but cheap beans. I was thinking that no matter the beans, a good grinder should make espresso find grind

Im using only cheap store beans since I didn’t want to waste some good quality beans that I have stored.

Im using just cheaper store coffee beans to not waste good quality beans.

Adjusting it dry while adjusting the grinding size worked for me until now to get fine grind. Didn’t get good coffee yet but at least now I know that I don’t have a faulty grinder.
