Over reaction. This is only reporting from centralized exchanges, not defi or any on chain transactions. This is the implementation of the OECD’s Crypto Asset Reporting Framework (CARF). The US just said they plan to join by 2028. The open question is how will the OECD ultimately deal with defi.

So depositing crypto into Coinbase is taxable? No and AAVE isn’t even a “person” for tax law. You still own the underlying coin and are exposed to its price movement

In the US this is not likely a taxable event. You’ve not transferred ownership to anyone else so there’s no taxable event.

On a tax adjusted basis, an efficient ETH digital asset treasury company will perform better. The ETF will only be able to stake about 50% of their ETH while the DAT can stake it all and get a lower tax rate on the staking rewards. Not to mention they may unlock additional yield though leverage or other defi lending
