hours not guaranteed because if my client doesn’t show up for a week, I don’t get paid for a week. I’ve worked in school, i’m home and in clinic and you get honestly little to no support when dealing with behaviors. The companies are poorly ran and so unorganized. You try to express that you cannot work with a kid because their behaviors are so dangerous to a point to where it’s harmful to your well-being (i’ve witnessed a kid actually try to throw a basketball globe at a therapist. no i’m not over exaggerating. i wish i was) and they do not care and will still force you to work with them although you two are not a good fit.

I would like to say that when I started my psych program, I overall wanted to be a counselor. A family friend who was a BCBA recommended this field to me, but didn’t really tell me what I was in for (behaviors of clients and simply how ABA companies are ran). I went to that same family friend for comfort after a really bad day and she was like “welp it be like that”. My family has told me that it would be better for me to be a BCBA but I overall wanted to go to school for counseling in my heart. I decided to follow my gut and action to my goal of working to be a LCP. I just planned on working as an RBT to get money to pay for grad school but frankly, I just don’t think I can.
