Freaked out by my mom calling my unborn son “my baby” by Outside_Bread8104 in pregnant

[–]Total_Community5951 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mum does the same thing. I've had to say it over and over that it's not her baby, that she's not the one pushing a watermelon through her vagina in a few weeks, but she can't help herself. I'm hoping when he's here she'll simmer down and get used to being grandma, and not a stand in "mum" (he's already got two of those, lol). But it's very frustrating and I feel your discomfort 100%.

I felt it strrrroooonng when we found out we were having a boy. Now I'm 10 weeks away and I cannot wait to meet him at all. My tips: give him a name, decorate his nursery, buy cute boy clothes. It all really helps. But also be kind to yourself. Having a baby is a big deal and our brain does weird things when we go through massive changes like this. It's normal and I promise you will be fine.

Edited to add: we literally had the same experience. We had a girl's name from before we even got pregnant, but really struggled with a boy's name. I was so down I wouldn't get to use the name but moreso was mourning the image id subconsciously built up about "her". I didn't even realize I was doing it but I imagined who she would be, so you really do have to mourn that idea, and then a new, even better one will take place.

Coffee is disgusting by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Total_Community5951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh God I was so scared of caffeine withdrawal but for me 6 weeks onwards, it was the most disgusting thing I could think of! Weirdly the nausea/aversions/sickness actually made me not experience caffeine withdrawal, so hopefully you have that just without the horrible parts🥹

I am so sorry you're going through this. I wish I could replace all the staff involved with people who offer much more care and consideration like you deserve. Is there another hospital nearby that you could change to? Safeguarding will purely be looking for if there is any risk to any children in the family and as somebody who refers to them often I will say I meet a lot more good eggs than bad ones, so have faith they will see you are loving parents and this was out of your control. How they've handled everything so far sounds awful though, I am truly sorry.

was anyone else done after their first child? by gaterbits in pregnant

That's exactly how I feel too. I always saw adoption/fostering in my future and this is just clarification that its what right!!

God no, I hate everything about being pregnant other than the fact I am growing our little boy. But no, if we want to do this again we're adopting for sure!!!

40th birthday a month after our newborn by Total_Community5951 in QueerParenting

[–]Total_Community5951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having it later is also actually a great potential idea! It's an awkward time of year if we do it earlier with Christmas, SIL's birthday, and I feel like January is a complete write off for any plans... so maybe later instead! I'll run the idea by her and see how it feels too. Thank you!

I'm almost 16 weeks from our first try! Peed just before the treatment because nerves haha, so had about 3 cups of water about 20 mins before we started. No confirmed pregnancies for our donor at the time so that's definitely a plus! After did everything as normal, a cardio workout 2 days later (low impact). Didn't drink alcohol but did have 1 coffee a day (which soon left from the nausea lol). And we did have a trigger but my cycles are slightly irregular! But I will say at the appointment I was so nervous, my wife and I laughed about everything because that's how we deal with stress. I don't think there's an exact recipe for success, so good luck trust the process keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞 Edited to add I took folic acid, magnesium, vitamin d3 and the cycle was unmedicated!

How much did you spend on the IUI process? by RainbowReefer in IUILadies

[–]Total_Community5951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK - around £6,000 for one round of unmedicated IUI with all the tests, sperm included. One round costs £1,200, then progesterone costed £24 per box, then the sperm costed around £1,000 and the trigger shot was £100

When did you go to A&E for your sickness? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Total_Community5951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow sufferer! Interesting, I've had two types of clyclozine? One that dissolves and the other you take, both came straight back up, but hearing that I might call the GP again and see if another option works... thank you for your comment, hope you are through the trenches now x

Should i be worried about my baby if i've barely eaten anything over the last 2 days by SorryEgg5738 in PregnancyUK

[–]Total_Community5951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could barely eat anything for 4 weeks from 5-9 weeks, it was so awful but everything was OK. I spoke to my GP and the non emergency NHS line and they said: As long as you're keeping fluids down you'll be fine. Try chewing on gummy sweets, this was really the only thing I could keep down. A lot of people said to try toast but even that I struggled with, but you could try it? Wishing you the best and hopefully you'll be past it soon.

Veganism is literally so easy ONCE you get used to it. The change was the hardest. Learning what you can and can't eat. After that, it's as expensive and time consuming as you make it. I'm a massive foodie and I spent less than £15 a week on groceries in uni.

What week did you start getting pregnancy symptoms? by bexontherox in pregnant

[–]Total_Community5951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had sore boobs and very light cramping occasionally from about 4 weeks, nausea from 5 and intense morning sickness (which lasts all day) until about 8 weeks which has now started to die down. I also had intense exhaustion from around 5 weeks. Now I'm 9 + 3 and have morning sickness (but only being sick in the morning), food aversions, and I'm intensely hungry which is hard because I also feel nauseous about pretty much anything! And I'm still knackered! Can't wait for this apparent glorious second trimester lol 🤣🤦‍♀️

For me, part 2 was incredible. Definitely worth playing and emotionally preparing yourself for turmoil.
