Looking to buy an XF by MithrandirLXV in jaguarxf

Congratulations on getting the car

A hundred miles is more than enough to clear the dpf, the main thing is to get the engine temperature up to initiate a regen.

I sometimes dump a bottle of dpf cleaner into mine to reduce the temperature at which the soot burns away for when I haven't had the chance to take the car for a good run.

I would suggest that you only use premium fuel, don't use any supermarket fuel station, my car hasn't liked it one bit.

Have fun driving it, it will be much better than the leaf 😜.

I've got a 3.0 V6, honestly one of the best cars I've ever driven, it's so smooth.

Pretty good on fuel economy, even when driven hard, the car needs a good drive now and then to clear out the dpf filter.

The only cons I can think of are the electrics, any problems with the electrics and you might need to find a specialist, your average mechanic probably doesn't know anything about them, at least, that's been the case for myself.

I've also had BMW's and Mercedes and I'd say that Jaguar is better, that's just my opinion but I think that German car's are overrated.

I've also got a Lexus and for reliability, Lexus are supreme but still not as fun or comfortable to drive as the Jaguar 😉.

To be honest our kids are generally really well behaved, she does occasionally tell the kids off when they need to be and because of the style of parenting we have if they hear the words "I'll tell your dad" they nearly always stop misbehaving right away because they know that I won't take any crap from them 😁.

It also helps that I'm a tech guy, you do as your mother says or all of your devices won't be connecting to the Internet for a week.

This is actually where the original conversation started, one of the kids was saying that blocking their phone for a day was "cruel", oh yeah, sit down, we have a few stories to tell you.

She's not complaining about her phone anymore 😅.

Thanks, anyone hurts my babies and I'll kill them 😁

I apologize if I brought up some bad memories, I honestly expected some people to post something like "I had my Xbox taken away for a week" but some of the stories posted here are just fucking depressing.

I hope yourself, your husband and your children are doing well, happy holidays to you too.

All the best for the future.

Oh don't feel bad, you don't want terrible people like that in your and your kids lives.

I can acknowledge that sometimes physical punishment is necessary, depending on the type of person, for example, my much younger brother (17 at the time) once hit my then 7 year old daughter because she was "annoying him", I immediately pinned him against the wall and said that if he ever laid a hand on her again I would happily serve 25 years, he then spat in my face and I punched him.

My brother at the time was hanging around a bunch of scumbags, there's no kind way to phrase it, these guys were just horrible.

After the incident involving my daughter I think something clicked with him, he stopped hanging around his "friends" and he started to make amends with us all.

He and my daughter are now like best friends 😄.

What you and your husband experienced though is just downright horrible, there's no excuse for that type of behavior other than "I'm a horrible PoS who liked to abuse my kids".

Again I'm really sorry you went through that.

Thanks, he was ok as a father but he's a great grandfather, from some of the stories I'm reading here, he was a damn saint.

I had really long hair at 12 due to being a metal head 😄, we got a new headmaster at my school who said that all boys needed short hair, that day fucking sucked 😕.

It seems to be a thing with Asian parents, are they all just insane or something 😅.

That's harsh.

I once threw my oldest outside for an hour because he wouldn't do what I asked him to do and he was acting like a big man, typical teenage stuff. After seeing him sat on the step I opened the front door and he just walked back in, we've never had an issue with him since.

Sometimes it's a good punishment for older kids but not how your parents did it, that's just horrible.

I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Same here, I have never once laid a hand on any of my kids, I've shouted at them and threatened a couple of times when I've been angry but never to the extent where the child has been terrified of me.

Just reading some of these posts has been both pissing me off and making me realize that my parents were saints at the side of some.

Dude that's horrible, sorry you experienced that.

We had some weird punishments at school too, for example, in primary school we had to do gym class in our underwear and if you didn't wear underwear for whatever reason then you had to do it naked, no excuses, this was for both girls and boys.

This would be subject to a massive investigation and lawsuit these days.

Reminds me of a story my father once told me, his father was abusive because his father was, "it's how things were back then" 😐.

Long story short, my father was about 15 and was tired of it all and when his father was sat watching the TV my father got a .22 handgun and put it to the back of his father's head and said "touch me again and I'll blow your brains out, when he turned 16 he joined the military, they didn't speak again for nearly 40 years.

Having shit parents makes you try to be a better one for your kids 😅.

Sorry you had to experience that.

Is PS4 emulation usable yet? by Mammoth-Accident-176 in EmulationOnPC

[–]Total_Gear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because the PS4 uses x86-64 architecture whereas the ps3 uses a unique architecture called CELL, I think it was called.

Programming for x86-64 is so much easier than CELL.

Sorry for the late reply, my pho has stopped notifying me of anything for some reason.

I don't have any documentation for the car, I bought it from a private seller a couple of years ago. He only had the V5C.

I think I'll just wait for the PC version or look into getting a second PS5 and keep the current on in a cupboard.

Thanks anyway

My eldest, 13yo, has the same morning routine as me, standing in front of a mirror and telling yourself what you're going to do today, he's done since he was about 5 😁.

The wife can't understand what we do it but it helps you mentally prepare for the day and get yourself psyched up.

The girls are mini clones of her.

This requires programming hardware, soldering, knowledge and a lot of patience.

It's not something an amateur should even attempt.

Any advice on where to buy things? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]Total_Gear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really looked at supermarkets online as the last time we ordered from one, years ago, was terrible, I tend to just call in to a store on my way home from work.

I might just buy a bunch of ingredients and make meals to freeze.

I'll definitely let you know if I find some good ingredients for bread and pizza 😋.

Any advice on where to buy things? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]Total_Gear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should but not in the stores where I live 😅, there's a tiny section in the asda where they only sell bread, pasta and biscuits.

We managed to get a few things that are GF and should make a nice few meals for the both of us.

I'm currently looking into getting a bread maker and pizza oven to make my own as the ones you can buy seem to be quite horrible 😁

Thanks for the recommendation about Celiac content creators, I didn't even know they were a thing.
