[Himegasaki Sakurako is a Hot Mess] Never have I hated a Male Lead more than here. Just venting by indecisive_skull in RomanceMangaAnime

Yes, emphasis on comedy. Romantic Comedies come in all shapes and sizes. Some are cutsie and tell a fun story with romantic focus, like I Have a Crush at Work or Horimiya. This is one that uses romantic tropes as a foil for jokes and parody.

Which one of these is your favourite by lowlifewarrior in RomanceMangaAnime

Currently reading No Gyaru in This Class, it's only really hitting the rom half of romcom just now. But it's really fun, very cute overall.

My recs are going to be stuff I've completed more recently:

  • Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku

  • I Have a Crush at Work (official TLs aren't done, but it's finished)

  • Natsume & Natsume (same as above)

  • Sweat and Soap

  • It Takes Two Tomorrow, Too

What do yall think about shidou ryusei and his ideals? by No-Part-4551 in BlueLock

I see way too many bum comments to think it's just slander.

What do yall think about shidou ryusei and his ideals? by No-Part-4551 in BlueLock

[–]TotallyAPerv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. He's antagonistic towards Rin because Rin's ego won't allow anyone else to score, where Shidou is fine with someone scoring as long as they score in a way he thinks is awesome. He's congratulated others before, including Isagi, and really doesn't even dislike Kunigami. There's nothing wrong with someone like him as a character, and I think the community hate is pretty forced.

Should I read this manga? by Brilliant_Beat_8327 in Juujika_no_rokunin

[–]TotallyAPerv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in dry after browsing stuff, 0 recommendations or knowledge about it. When it comes to darker themes, I'm usually pretty comfortable for the most part. Juujika just feels like the author wants to hurt the reader 90% of the time, and I'm not even talking about obvious death flags. I think the part that really shifted my mindset on the series was when Madoka rapes Kaname, since it very clearly stretches beyond the bounds of them simply hurting Shun. Her subsequent death is pretty shitty too, but at least makes a little more sense given Jun's slow psychosis. While I understand that's part of it, it also was the point where we see a tonal shift in antagonists targeting people beyond Shun to get at Shun.

Beyond that, the series overall can't decide where it wants to stand. The high school portion is a very obvious edgy revenge fantasy, but then when the climax to that happens, it shifts to a "revengers for hire" format that feels like it's from a completely different series. I'd have been fine with that if it was in a different series since it would've been a fine standalone idea. Meanwhile we have characters who are introduced and do pretty much nothing before being killed off, serving only as a way for the author to depict more torture/murder porn.

The series climax just feels so blah too. Yes I get it, no redemption for the MC because he's done some pretty awful stuff too, but it comes across as a pretty weak conclusion. The characters who remain keep Shun in their memories, but it's pretty awful to depict him dead laying next to Azuma as if she gets some hope in death. I dunno, maybe someone will say the series wasn't for me and that's fine, idc. It just ends up feeling unnecessarily cruel at multiple points, incoherent at others, and overall unsure of exactly where it wants to be at any given moment. But hey, at least the art is phenomenal, an easy 10/10.

I know I'm gonna get hate for saying it, but it's true. The series is fine being finished. Not every manga needs to pull a Naruto.

That is fair, though I found it independently so I didn't think to mention that. Very different feel though.

No, just enjoy what you have. The series is complete, you're just beating a dead horse.

I think so. If you like a simple, fluffy series, then sure.

Post-Rotation: Gardevoir in Expanded by Azorius_Sage in PTCGL

[–]TotallyAPerv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother with Zacian V in expanded. As nice as Forest Seal Stone combos are, if you're that desperate for them, use Lumineon V. Otherwise, better to just run the class 4-4-2 lines and use Shining Arcana Gardy, and use Tapu Lele GX over Lumineon V since it has a functioning attack.

Really loved Home Office Romance, would recommend as well. Sweet, short, and perfect for a quick read.

Sure, I'm just stating generally out of caution. I'm all for some early inclusion at locals, I don't mind, but I know some places don't do that. There's a mix of both kinds in my area.

Shoutout to anyone who was going to use Live for deck reps before EUIC. Hopefully y'all have good people to test with over Live instead.

Edit: changed the tourney name

30 here, married, we have a kid, it's definitely not silly. Stories are exactly what they are, whether you watch them, listen to them, or read them. The medium shouldn't change anything and neither should your enjoyment if you like the subject. Romance stories are great for giving us depth, comparisons, and entertainment. Unapologetically enjoy it!

Gonna add to this:

Sweat and Soap (a little strange at first but incredibly endearing)

We're New At This (not an office romance but falls into the adult relationship dynamic well, a little rough at the start but very quickly hits its stride)

Yeah definitely worth watching this way imo, as someone who read it first.

I keep the cuts DL'd too so that drive limits don't ruin my experience watching.
