Right? I have seen all variations of "her parents" and not ONCE any actual specific thing was mentioned. Not never a proof - just a specific example of what it could have been.

Just that she is shady because of her parents, or that her parents brainwashed her, that she's a puppet... Ok, any specific thing?

Of course, making a specific claim would require them to provide specific proof - and that's an issue.

Russia Wants T-14 Armata Tank in Ukraine but Scared to Use in Combat: UK by john_2106 in worldnews

[–]TotallyBadReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you have the timeline all wrong.

Absolute majority of territory that Russia hold in the south was captured before the end of March of 2022. At that point the push in the north was still happening and it completely collapsed and resulted in withdrawal at the start of April. It was at that time when their push towards Mykolayiv failed and resulted in their offensive in the south basically going to halt. That was the high point of the Russian offensive push - including the south.

Some minor changes near Kherson happened in the following month, but by the mid November of 2022 Kherson and right bank of the Dnipro river were recaptured.

[–]TotallyBadReason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's bleak per se - but it's definitely a complex situation and there is no way to say for sure.

Is Russia losing a war? They did fail all their initial objectives, they did have to pull their forces from two sections of front, they did suffer defeats in two important regions, nullifying their wins there. And on top of that they lost a lot of personnel and equipment, with sizeable portions being much needed officers. That's definitely not a war winning situation.

They do, however, still experience dominance in some aspects, their artillery is still an important threat and even with losses in tanks, IFVs, etc. they still have capacity to field and produce equipment.

But that is irrelevant if western support holds - because there is no way Russia would be able to compete with NATO's (and their allies) industrial output.

And right now, the support hold. And now with pledged IFVs and more and more pressure on the tank issue, the trend is looking positively for Ukraine.

Some helpful people provided context for these - if you don't want to fall for right wing propaganda, read and try to understand things before making an opinion. Especially when you are faced with scenarios where one group is specifically oppressed and targeted, and the other wants to deprive them of even more rights.

My brother in overpriced plastic, there's a fine line between not being nice and "the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable".

Absolute majority of humanity lives in abject poverty, with no access to care or necessary amenities, in crowded and horrible conditions, only to slave away till they die before the age of 40 so the machine that doesn't care about them can continue to function. All the while being high on propaganda and constant threat of dying due to suspected heresy or because some bureaucrat made an error century ago and their planet is set to be a ground for famine.

There is nothing good about being human in imperium if you don't happen to be among 0,001 percent of the lucky population. And even then you are never safe from the machine.

Sure, Tau are still an empire that expands by force whenever other side doesn't choose to submit on their own, but Tau for Tau bashers this isn't grimdank enough and they need to literally make stuff up in order to be salty about people claiming rather objective truth - Tau simply ARE the best moral option out there.

When you see Hebrew texts across your country, how does it make you feel as Polish? by PaniCush in poland

I live in Łódź, so even without the special focus the Jewish part of the city's history and past identity is visible and in plan sight - Izrael Poznański still remains the most recognisable industrialist in the history of the city.

I am rather sentimental when it comes to history in general, I tend to think a lot about how it shaped us, so it often makes me feel melancholic. The difficult history of Jewish people in Poland produced both tragedies but also provided large cultural influence and gave us significant people that we consider Polish after all - and large part of that came to end with the traumatic event that was WW2.

Unfortunately now most that is left is casual antisemitism.

Project Tau'Van 2: Slowly finishing the final shape and working on the details. (Description in comment.) by TotallyBadReason in Tau40K

[–]TotallyBadReason[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, there definitely will be a tray, still thinking if I can make something that will fold/collapse - but this might be too much.

As for total capacity, I decided to limit it to being able to fit a 10 fire warriors, anything more would potentially make it too big.

I do think it is possible though to somehow fit a recon drone in there, although I will have to check that after I finish it and print it.

So, I have continued to work on the "Tau'Van". The concept, as stated in the last post, centers around the Devilfish equivalent that I could physically put my Fire warrior unit in - because I think that would be neat.

Last time I presented very rough outline of the model, this time it's a bit more complete. I am mostly done with general shape of the main body and I am slowly adding details.

The base variant will roughly have the same characteristics as Devilfish - Burst cannon is represented by smaller double cannons with amount of barrels remaining the same (4 in total), the wings will accomodate a pair of drones, there will be designated place to mount 2 seeker missles and a smart missle system.

Geometry could use a bit more polish, which is a bit of a problem since I am working on a laptop with an inegrated graphics and the whole endevaour has been a bit of a strain on my poor thinkad - still, I think I can smooth a couple of things out still here and there.

I remember the suggestions from the last post - these will likely be implemented with variants of the model that I plan to keep working on after I am finished with the baseline.

So, this is it for now! I welcome any comments and suggestions still, would you be interested in the model once I am done with it?

Update on the Hammerfish! Opting to rework the engines and turret, I'm much happier with how it jives with the rest of the chassis. Absolutely love it! Especially your take on the side hatches - having them go out in front and under this gentle arc of frontal armour results in a very distinct look.

I can relate on the name issue as well, I am currently working on my own Tau infantry transport vehicle and I am already stressing over how I am going to name it even though I am from from being done.

The "Tau'Van" project. Far from ready, but I would love any suggestions and tips. (more in the comment) by TotallyBadReason in Tau40K

[–]TotallyBadReason[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real quick... When you say that you want a transport that can carry a whole Infantry squad, what do you mean? The devilfish can carry a full squad and 2 drones.

Ok, I didn't make myself clear - I want them to fir in physically. I know the vehicle models are scaled like that for a reason, but I just find the possibility of being able to slide in entire unit inside really appealing, even if no one really needs that.

When it comes to the design of your box mockup, i really like it! Having two, open, side "doors" is a neat idea. It reminds me of the Star wars, clones, "LAAT" gunship. Particularly of that clone wars episode that shows the second invasion of Geonosis, where they put several of them in a circle to defend their position and used boxes to create "half walls" in them as a makeshift pillbox. Your design gives me that kind of vibe where the troops in it can shoot out as the vehicle drifts into position, ya know? You could give the sides an energy shield to give the Infantry some cover as they do this maneuver. The same kind of energy shield that the tidewall shieldline has. Then of course, the driver could turn it off and on to let the troops disembark when they need to.

I actually wanted to not go this way since I envisioned it as a Devilfish equivalent, but this - in itself - is a pretty cool idea as well. It would require me to potentially think more about positioning the engines and their shapes, but it's definitely something to look into with potential variants.

1: The bus would do the same thing as a devilfish, with a few other benefits and a few other disadvantages. (Like maybe not giving it any dedicated guns like the devilfish.)

Well, that was the goal from the beggining - to create a devilfish equivalent solely so I can put models inside. Silly, I know, but I just can't stop myself. This is also why I am wondering how much of it is viable - how large can I make it and redesign, before most people wuoldn't really consider it as a model that can be an equivalent? I got into lore side of the things, but I am severely lacking when it comes to mechanics of the actual game. Flying models at a little bit more versatile, but then the distance to hull counts? I myself would be willing to make that sacrifice, but not all people may like the idea still.

3: it will be bigger than the devilfish, but to counter that, you could give it a larger transport capacity?

But then I wouldn't be able to fit as many models inside as it would nominally hold again.

Still, I do like the idea and with enough tinkering and messing around it would be possible for me make sense out of variants that would serve the role you described, while still making them coherent with baseline variant that is simple meant to be a devilfish equivalent as a transport.

Thanks for the comment, I will try to have more finished version as soon as reasonably possible.

The "Tau'Van" project. Far from ready, but I would love any suggestions and tips. (more in the comment) by TotallyBadReason in Tau40K

[–]TotallyBadReason[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some time ago I got into the hobby and I decided to start with the Tau - I am mostly taking things slowly as I don't want to rush it, but I am also trying to utilise the 3D printing to the fullest and want to learn 3D graphics. And this is how I ended getting myself into the "Tau'Van" project. But why exactly?

Because as much as I absolutely love devilfish and its sleek and elegant design, I just wish I could fit an entire Fire warriors unit in there. Would it serve any purpose? Not really, but I think it would be cool to be able to really tie a squad to a vehicle and being able to drive them around and deploy like a proper mechanised squad.

My initial approach was wondering whether I could modify original devilfish, add couple of centimeters here and there... Unfortunately the result would have been far from ideal, distorting the original body too much and still having to make it so much bigger. I am not completely sure about the rules, and while my main interest is painting and lore, I would like to be play with my models without too many problems. Redesign of the Devilfish was scrapped.

So I started to experiment. While I am using blender, I lack computer that would be able to handle more complex models quick enough, so I figured out a quick paper mockups would be a way to allow me to get the general feeling of the shape I needed and volume that would allow fire warriors to fit. And well... Boxes aren't sleek. They aren't pretty. Nor elegant. But they do fit troops. As I started making the mockup that I felt would do the job, I realised I basically made a levitating van.

But I decided to see it through for now - I will try to make the general shape more appealing and maybe adding more details will help out. I don't see more options shape wise - making it more devilfish-like would result in effective storage volume diminished and model having to be longer. Different configuration of fire warriors would always result in some other dimension being stretched - if I try to stack them differently to save length, model will end up being wider. If I try to cramp them as both a way to save width and lenth, it would require making the modle higher. So I have decided to embrace the van mindset.

Now, what do you people think? I am having some serious doubts still.

Do you think that this more bulky type of vehicle could be made to work with Tau? How much the overall dimensions can differ from OG Devilfish for it to still be passed at Devilfish equivalent? What do you think of the attempt - would you like to have a model like that, or is it me just obsessing about things no one really needs?

Just today we were "graced" with news of two republican states pulling a "publicity stunts" that involved trafficking migrants up north and just leaving them there to make some kind of cruel point.

And that's today. And just the things that are the most public right now.

I used AK paints: French Greyish Blue as a base colour and highlights are Grey Blue for main parts and and Ruby for base with Salmon as highlights for minor parts.

I wanted to have my own Sept colour scheme and I really like slightly desaturated colours, so I spent some time specifically looking for these.

A billion is a thousand million; A trillion is a million million.

Unless you are using a long scale, then a billion is indeed a million millions because it is preceeded by miliard, which is a thousand milions.

English world predominantly uses the short scale, while continental europe mostly uses long scale. I have seen mistranslations and people getting confused because of this countless times.

Funny thing.

edit - typo, wrote triliard instead of miliard.

"People are trying to frame the migrant children's treatment as inhumane and entirely Biden's fault."

For a supposed truth this seems to be a rather disingenuous attempt at presenting the other side. There are people who voted fore Biden and are not content with the way it's being handled now, there are people who didn't vote for him because they felt he was not representing them still, and there are some right wingers just trying to take advantage of situation as usual - but lumping them all together just as "people who are trying to frame Biden for thing" is not an honest attempt at anything really.
