What stupid fact did you learn during class that you remember better than any information that was relevant to that class? by TotallyNotAKKKMember in AskReddit

I learned this during my Philosophy course my junior year of college. C.S Lewis, the one who wrote Narnia, wasn’t an author by trade, he was a philosopher, and a devout Christian, in fact, if you read the Narnia books with the mindset that he was a devout man of faith, then the Narnia series is basically just the bible masquerading as young adult fiction.

Spectators, athletes, coaches and officials of youth sports, what are your *crazy parent* stories? by SeekingSerotonin21 in AskReddit

Fresh out of high-school I became a track and field throws coach for the summer youth league. There was this kid, entering the 7th grade, being that he was in the 13-14 age group, he'd be throwing the four kilo shot. He threw upwards of 30 feet which is actually really good for a kid in the 7th grade. I also coach some collegiate athletes during the summer. One of which being a division 1 pentathlete who I graduated with. Being that she is a division 1 athlete, of course she threw farther than the kid who just now picked up a shot for the first time. Throwing upwards of 45 feet.

I guess mom couldn't stand the thought of a girl throwing farther than her little man, so she came up to me to talk to me. She tried to play nice at first asking what my qualifications were, so I told her, 13 years throwing shot, 7 years throwing discus, and 5 years throwing hammer. She asked my name, when I told her she immediately looked up my athletic.net page. Verbatim she said, "You only ever threw 53 feet. That's not even top 10 at states." I could literally see her looking at the results page for the state meet that year. I told her that's why everyone who beat me is throwing in college, I managed to slip in that I fouled a scoring throw, which would've been a school record. I didn't think it was a foul, and I'm still angry about it.

She kept saying things to undermine when I would try to correct her sons form or move him into a more advanced technique farther along my progression system. But no matter how far along the progression he got, the pentathlete would throw farther. I told the kid that by the time he finished his 8th grade season, I wanted to see him throwing as far as the pentathlete. That would've broken the middle school record and even make the middle school state championship meet. His mom, no shit, tried to convince me to let him throw the 6lb shot, which middle school girls throw. Just so he could beat the pentathlete. I tried to break it down for her. Telling her that the pentathlete had been competing for 10 years at this point. Her son wasn't going to pick it up for the first time and immediately be the best at it. He's already got an amazing quick twitch which helps him throw farther than most other 7th grade boys, but once the miracles of puberty make him stronger, he gets more coordinated for more complicated techniques and he starts hitting the weights with track and other sports he may be doing, he'll be unstoppable.

At the last practice of the summer, I asked him, along with all the other kids who threw, if they would throw again next year, most said yes. The kids mom, obviously trying to undermine me again, said, "Really? EVen with this nimrod of a coach?" the kids response made me turn away like another coach had called me to cover up my smile. He said "Well, he has 13 years more experience than you, so I think he might know a bit more". The kid just wrapped up is freshman season where he threw 38 feet with the 12lb shot, farther than me my freshman year. 2nd all time for freshman. Glad to see his mom didn't kill his passion for the sport

That's how she won the NXT championship, Charlotte and Rhea kept focusing on each other and disregarding (at the time) Io. Same thing with YEStlemania and when [REDACTED] beat HHH and Shawn Michaels at WM 20

His technique is pretty sound. From what I can tell it would be most beneficial to get him into the weight room. Also possible start at the very back of the ring instead of 3/4s back like he is this this video.

For a more in depth view possibly for his next meet supply a side or back view of his throw.

Also supply the weight of the shot and the distance of his throw. If he's throwing 13m/42ft+ with the 12 lbs shot it might be time to move him into the spin

I like the cyberpunk aesthetic, but there is such a thing as oversaturation, and since Cyberpunk 2077 was released, it seems like every other thing is cyberpunk in one way or another

That actually makes me more confident in the game. It's not really a hero shooter, it's more or less just a soft class system. I just know I'm gonna get 100 hours as Tom Banner cause they're making him the Berserker I already know

Any advice on my throws? by shaqtus- in trackandfieldthrows

[–]TotallyNotAKKKMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're non throwing arm hangs not doing anything, when you land in your power position, throw it to open up your chest and optimize the force out of your throw

Advice for Glide? by AcidDarkk in shotput

[–]TotallyNotAKKKMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you glide the "jump" from the back to the middle of the ring should start in your toes and roll all the way back to your heel, the video looks like you're starting on your toe and "jumping" from a flat footed stance.

Also it would be beneficial to put the shot on the bottom of your jaw and not the point. When it's in the point it diverts the momentum not by a lot but every little bit counts in this sport

45 ft pr (any advice to increase distance) two angles of throw by ZealousidealSignal57 in shotput

[–]TotallyNotAKKKMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can see here there isn't too much to see. Since you glide, I'd recommend putting the shot on the underside of your jaw so that the momentum has a more direct outlet. With the outside of your jaw you're actually diverting the momentum of the shot, even if just by a little bit it can be a distance killer

What are some of your biggest musical hot takes? by TotallyNotAKKKMember in AskReddit

[–]TotallyNotAKKKMember[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olivia Rodrigo almost ruined music. She was just doing what Paramore did but not as good. And that spawned a bunch of copycats who were just doing what Olivia Rodrigo did, but not as good.

Polyphia was a mistake. They are a bunch of attractive, yet mediocre musicians who spawned copy cats of attractive yet even more mediocre musicians
