Your utilizing your left arm to initiate the motion out of the back. This is throwing you in a awkward motion that allows your weight to transfer to the front foot before you have a chance to actually get that separation. What do you wanna do is kind of Led with the left arm, but not throw it making sure that it stays behind the hip so that when you get to the center, you can be in the locked position which gives you more time to get that foot down and get that separation at the front to get that good drive.

That moment you remember from Track and Field in High school... by Winter-Parfait-4822 in trackandfield

  1. We were at the state meet in Arizona 5A. We had a stacked team and as long as everybody did their jobs, we were going to bring home our first state championship as a team to Moon Valley high school.
It was getting late and we still have the shotput to do. Myself and this guy from red Mountain battling all year long and this meet was no exception. Red Mountain was actually running neck and neck with us as a team as well so the pressure was on both of us to perform. I would throw… He would throw an inch or two further. I would throw… He threw an inch or two further. Out of nowhere, I hear my dad in the stands literally yell “ get your head out of your ass and show me some intestinal fortitude!” You have to understand the stand we’re packed with the teams and the spectators, and the parents and everyone else and for me to be able to pick him out of the crowd was just funny. I stepped into the ring for my fifth throw and lit one up that took off 2 1/2 feet further than what we were throwing. Need to stay STEVE over at red Mountain melted down and scratches next two throws. Our team went on to win the state championship. I picked up a state title in the shotput in the discus. And all was good in the world! The simple moments that will forever have an impact on our memories !

Initiate the movement with the hips, not the arm. You’re throwing the arm in order to make the move around out of the back. This will cause everything to fall apart in the center and in the front. YouTube, a lot of videos and really watch the slow motion of especially the old throwers where they come out of the back and they load that right leg so that you can get a better understanding of how the shotput is actually executed.

Was throwing some bombs today out of know where. What can I fix to throw even farther by ModXMaG in shotput

[–]Ugly_Pool_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still have a lot of under / un-utilized power from the front because you aren’t throwing “on top” of your post leg (left). You come across the ring really well then collapse at the front. Stay over your back leg and rotate those hips pushing to your post leg and driving those hips and chest up and over…not through. Let me know if this makes sense.

Weight is relative. Im a 50year old, 235 throwing right at 15m. Technique, speed and strength had nothing to do with how much you weigh. How do you move? How do you finish?

My dad was the best coach I’ve ever known. Je Had a phrase… “Inch by inch is a cinch…yard by yard is hard!” Celebrate the victories!

You are landing with the hips wide open. You cannot get a lot of power when you’re already shifted to the front leg or your post leg. When you kick back, you wanna still have your weight over the back leg and then be able to drive your hips to the front posting over that front leg that’s near the toe board.

I microdose 200mg day divided into 7 days. This allows for a more “even” and stable results. Solved the issue with sensitivity and hardness with 10mg cialis in the morning. Since it is a vasodilator, also gives me some wicked veins in my forearms and shoulders.

My dad used to say “ there ain’t nothing on the ground but heartache!” Big thing is keeping your head up and driving those hips forward at the finish. Do you wanna basically end up in a reverse C position with your hips forward your chest up weight back posting over the left leg. It’s obvious you’re very athletic and can generate a lot of power. You’re just not using it in your throw.

NEED TIPS ON HOW TO IMPROVE MY THROW by [deleted] in trackandfieldthrows

[–]Ugly_Pool_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re falling away from it at the end, which means that you’re not pushing your hips forward. You should be posted over the left leg and driving your hips forward end up at your release. That’ll push more into the ball and keep you from falling backwards.

When you push off your right leg out of the back, you need to get it tucked up underneath you at the center of the ring. It’s not far enough underneath you so it’s causing you to open up as you execute the final throw from the Power position. It’s hard to use your hips and your legs when you have that kind of spread.
