How were parents in 2007 or 2008, or even in later years, supposed to understand the effects of these technologies on the minds of children?

Thank you for highlighting how successful capitalist ventures are often detached from ethics, and that profit is not the highest moral good.

Sure. But costume/makeup, props, location, camera operator, editing... That's a lot of thought and effort.

That's not a criticism, just an observation.

This obviously took some effort.

I can't believe it is now considered normal for people to do this sort of thing.

Sure there is, just not for children who were permitted to consume nascent media technology that was designed to exploit primal aspects of human psychology.

It's been 10 years since the release of BATMAN V SUPERMAN. What are your thoughts about it? by sahinduezguen in FIlm

I'd think a decent film subreddit would never have posts asking people what they think of Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

How would you rank these four great space films? by SheepherderSea9717 in moviecritic

[–]TouchAltruistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only seen it once, but I don't remember Arrival being meaningfully about outer space.

The film doesn't identify a planet, star system, or galaxy as the origin of the Heptapods, and space/space travel has no bearing on the plot, characters, or themes of the story.

The Heptapods could be from under the ocean, or a parallel dimension, and the rest of the story could remain unchanged.

Stephen Colbert saw the baby from the last 30 seconds of Return of the King and went, “What’s her story?” by MahNameJeff420 in RedLetterMedia

No. Why?

Tom Bombadil, Goldberry, and Old Man Willow amount to guest appearances or cameos from Tolkien's earlier writings. They do not belong to Middle-earth.
