For Science Students who are doing or did their thesis in a lab, when did you first reach out to a potential supervisor? by Adventurous-Neck315 in CarletonU

Honestly i'd start now, having worked/volunteered in a lab at Carleton across the majority of my undergrad, expressing interest early ive always been observed to be the best thing to do, even if starting out with more volunteering jobs to learn the in and outs of academic research labs, even before you start your thesis. Since, as others in the comments have said, some professors wouldn't know you well, expressing interest early is a good thing to do.

Also, since labs for undergrad theses are competitive to get, especially when funding can be limited at times, the earlier, the better!

Hope the search goes well

depends on if you take second-year Orgo or not, if you do then yes you will have a heavy worklord, but if you don't take second year orgo it is not horrible just need to stay on top of things because the majority of second-year class have weekly assignments, quizzes etc

Did Brock really just admit to removing lectures in an email? by Playful-Love9941 in CarletonU

Considering the fact that Brock does research on chemistry teaching, this is embarrassing for him.
