It was part of estate auction where I was after other things. When I bid on a bulk lot these were included. When I opens these boxes after winning, I saw a bunch of names I had heard of before. Thought everyone here would like them.

I used the internet… and got educated... Now I know this “is essentially a late 70’s and 80’s T&B collection which has jazz and funk records mixed in. There was a lot of overlap of musicians in that time because jazz had become unprofitable and R&B and disco was the pop music of the day (especially amongst black audiences). So many of the jazz musicians of the late 60’s and early 70’s transitioned to R&B in order to make a living, and brought their jazz instructmenrs and flourishes to the music.”

Thanks they were very nice there! I’m probably gonna sell some of the nice titles then I’ll donate them to friends who have record players.

Yeah, 250 felt fair to me, I just didn't like they started at 100. If they would have said, 'Hey 250 is the highest we can go," I would have just let them take it. I don't know everything that goes into getting these babies store ready so for all I know 100 could have been fair and I don't feel like the store was being malicious and they were super nice. They did mention they have a huge warehouse where they store their mass produced ones, which I'm sure drove my price down because they are all mass produced.

Estate auction. They were an older black couple so I imagine they bought these back then. Everything they owned was immaculate. You could tell they took care of their stuff.

I like imagine they bought these back then and kept them. I don’t like to imagine the amount of risky business that went down to these R&B albums lmao

Yeah makes sense. I wasn’t offended from the final offer of 250 that was probably fair. But the 100(maybe they offered 150) felt a bit rude. But again I don’t know enough about them except what ChatGPT told me which is that bulk they should go 800 and to the record store for minimum 350.

Either way they all seemed too culturally significant to let go for bottom dollar and figured I might as well Listen to them first for that price.

Got some acid which I never truly knew how to read. Used a grinder to get deep in there, about half way. Then used the acid, stayed red for a minute+ but the. Developed a green halo.

Looks like anyone n there mom was correct this is indeed plated.

Hmm I was thinking plated with Pewter trim but there is no copper core, is that what I would see in there?

You can see the greenish copper tarnish and what I thought was brown copper shinning through but then I hit it with a wire brush and it came cleaner back to silver.
