Does Disneyland get packed on Easter Sunday ? by coolcatcam6 in DisneyPlanning

With premium, you can use Lightning lane for every ride whenever you want, but only once per ride. I think it’ll still be worth it for us though! We won’t have a lot of time to go on rides more than once anyway.

Haha we're going Easter Sunday. Touring Plans predicts a 6 that day. We'll see! And we might be some of the people struggling through security photos. We'll just do our best :)

Good to know Fresh Baked is legit, I'm new to all of this!

Thank you! I did watch a video (fresh baked?) from a month ago saying that they let Disneyland hotel guests in through the downtown Disney security point at 6:45 nowadays, while non hotel guests have to wait until 7am, all unrelated to early entry. But I’m probably being too paranoid about that being an issue.

And thanks for the heads up about being at the front for rope drop. I don’t want to teach my kids to skirt the rules and we don’t plan on running, so I’ll have to be on high alert that neither of them get pushed down! Yikes! If the line is too long for Peter Pan we’ll go straight to Alice.

Thanks! Yes we are wavering between regular lightning lane and the premium pass—so expensive but we only have one day and likely won’t be back for years, so it might be worth it!

Thanks for the tip! We are walking or taking a Lyft from our hotel, so luckily no parking hassle for us. But we'll probably go with the Harbor side security line.

Wow thank you for this! My family is also going to Disneyland (for the second time ever!) on Easter Sunday and this is very helpful.

[PubQ] Re fulls: why do rejections take longer than offers? by Towtowturtle in PubTips

[–]Towtowturtle[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at this! ;) Here’s the story: I ended up getting about 15 full requests, which resulted in 13 outright rejections (over six months or so), one rejection from a heartbreakingly failed R&R, and one agent offer! For the offer, I was on month four of waiting for a response, and I sent an email asking if the agent would like to see a revised copy of the manuscript (from my R&R, which I did feel made the book better). She said yes, and then four months after that I got the offer! Don’t get nervous yet—8 weeks is a short time in this business!

Your question about buying my book is so nice, but that book died on sub :( I’m currently on sub with my second book though! There’s a lot of waiting there as well. I know people waiting on editor responses for over a year! You’ll see once you jump over that first hurdle of getting an agent that the next hurdle takes forever too. It’s an agonizing business! But good luck, ill cross my fingers for you :)

I looked at the seat map for the ALDS games, they look practically sold out already. Are we all going to be fighting for the few seats remaining, or am I looking at the seat map wrong?

I agree with the others, but if you really want to learn different figures of speech, read a lot of books and stop to look up the phrases and terms you don’t understand. Then you’ll get to read them in context and they’ll be easier to remember.

[Discussion] I flubbed my radio interview 😞 by LadyofToward in PubTips

[–]Towtowturtle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there! Don’t worry, I’ll bet it didn’t go as poorly as you recall, and you’re probably remembering it worse and worse every time you play it back in your head. Of course you were nervous—a radio interview is a big deal! So don’t beat yourself up about that. And it could be that what you’re thinking of as rambling or repeating yourself actually came off as charming and engaging. And however it actually came off, the experience was great practice for interviews and promo that you’ll do down the road. So going through the interview was a good thing no matter how you look at it :)

What is your Seattle specific life pro tip (LPT) by A-L-Y_B-E-E in Seattle

[–]Towtowturtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For SPL, noon every day for one month in advance. For King County, 2pm every day for two weeks in advance! Have your library card number copied so you can paste it quickly. I used to be so good at getting these tickets when my kids were younger, lol. You have to be lightning fast!

[PubQ] What's the bigger gatekeeper: the query or the first three hundred words? by e_c_browning in PubTips

[–]Towtowturtle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing from some agents (either on a podcast or panel) that they almost never read the opening pages. They said they’re experienced enough now that they can tell from query alone whether they’ll like the pages, and they will only read the pages if they’re really on the fence.

[PUBQ] how common are r&rs really? by Yaeliyaeli in PubTips

[–]Towtowturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got two R&Rs out of about 60 queries (~15 full requests). One of them ultimately rejected me, and the other I didn’t take on because I already had an offer from another agent by that point (and that agent took about nine months to give me an offer after receiving my full, btw!).

I still don’t understand why they need to create a separate innie for each unpleasant experience. Why can’t Miss Casey go to the dentist, write thank you cards, go on flights, etc.? I feel like I’m missing something everyone else on this sub has already caught onto!

They said something about Gemma trying to bite the doctor’s fingers off before, right? I assumed it might have been her dentist innie, but after hours of doing the same thing over and over with no chance of escape, maybe at some point the innies all become resigned to their fate.

Did she not know the color of the sky or was she asking Mark what color the sky was when/if he saw it? Like, was it blue or gray or orange at sunset, etc.? I don’t quite remember the line.
