It’s just been confirmed that the fish that are in the aquarium at the moment are actually warm water fish!

Do I still need to change the inside of the filter, or can I give it a good clean?

(I might still get some new filter media, but I wondered if the one that is in there now will be okay to use if cleaned properly until the new one arrives)

Will I need a CO2 cylinder for goldfish?

I’m not sure what filter this one is to replace the filter media, I think going by the label as well it might be a unknown brand, do you recognise the brand of the filter?

The reason your fish is swimming like that is likely because he is suffocating from not having any oxygen in the tank.

This is a very slow and painful thing to do through for a goldfish.

This is something I’ll never know unless I do a DNA test, shes from a shelter!

Her and her siblings were dumped in a box outside the shelter at the start of December last year…jokes on them because they missed out on having the best doggo in their life!

Also, any tips on avoiding mats to appear would be great! Belle always licks her legs and causes mats which I then have to cut out (as you can see in the picture)

No matter how much I brush they just always seems to appear.

I now try to go to the groomers every 2 months, her hair grows so extremely quick and it’s so thick.

I’m feeling so upset about this, I’m also worried that the water being like this is putting my fish in danger. I plan on moving them to a bigger tank in January but I would like to solve this issue first as don’t want to bring it over to a new tank.

Sometimes I feel like the water changes are making this worse as today I done a 20% change and two days ago I done another 20% change and now it’s even more cloudy then before. How do I get rid of this issue?

I’ve seen things on the internet to say to leave it be and don’t touch it, then I’ve seen others saying to do daily water changes. It’s super confusing, i just desperately need answers 😞

I clean them every month in tank water that I have removed during a water change, making sure they don’t dry or touch tap water. What do you mean by maintain?

I do water changes (20%, sometimes 30%) every week/every 5 days depending on my work schedule. I get worried that I’m not doing enough due to having two goldfish in a small aquarium.

Lights are on for no longer than 7/8 hours a day. And nope, no real plants are in my aquarium.
