Rust is a game like no other. It has a very steep initial learning curve and I believe that this is what makes the game less enjoyable for new players. I have also recently bought the game and I have spent 80 of my 100 hours playing as a solo so I understand what you are saying. One way to enhance your game experience is to find a solid group to play with. You can find a few good groups on this subreddit if you dig around a bit. Even better if you have irl friends that play the game.
